DC Comics plans to reintroduce a character as gay, comic blog BleedingCool.com reports.
DC Comics co-publisher Dan DiDio announced the plans over the weekend at Kapow Comic Convention in London, saying that the existing superhero who was previously assumed to be straight will be "one of our most prominent gay characters." He did not specify in which issue the reveal will occur.

The news comes a year after DiDio told The Advocate that he only intends to introduce new characters in the DC universe as gay rather than make existing ones gay. Of the change in plans, DC Comics Senior VP Bob Wayne told BleedingCool.com that DiDio's view "has evolved," echoing President Barack Obama's recent endorsement of same-sex marriage.

Mark my words, it doesn’t matter which hero it is, sales numbers will crater.

Actually, the rumor that’s going around is that it will be the Earth-2 Green Lantern, who was just re-introduced this month.

A homosexual “superhero”. The Fabulous Boa! This should be hilarious. I guess they’ll have to leave off the “SWISH!” when he/she takes off running.

Every one of them has that whole spandex tights thing going on, in all kinds of bright colors. Then you’ve got the matching cape, matching mask, and slip-on stain high top shoes.
I’m thinking the whole super hero culture is keeping a secret.

Comic books were one of my favorite reading pleasures as a young child and man. I read them for the adventure or the eeriness of somewhere far away and different from where I lived and went to school. I didn’t care about a heros or villains sexual orientation nor would it have ever occurred to me to ask.
Now-a-days... These comics are quickly heading for the XXX rated adult store not the local comic book store.
I dunno. He's done some pretty goofy things to impress and get to Lois. And Lana too.
