Nonsense. As a Fox News commentator, Sarah is not allowed to formally endorse anyone. But she made it very clear several times that she backed Newt, and her husband formally endorsed Newt, which was a pretty clear signal.

That gave Newt a temporary lift, but unfortunately he was unable to sustain it. Too much baggage.

The candidate who was doing best against Romney turned out to be Rick Santorum. But the libertarians were successfully put off him by numerous Lamestream lies about what he actually said. Rick still came the closest to derailing Romney, and possibly if Sarah had backed him instead, things would have turned out differently.

But she didn’t. She backed Newt. That turned out to be a mistake, but there’s no use worrying about water over the dam.

I watched the election very closely and her interviews. Occasionally there would be a few with some insight or some nuances that got people excited. Most of the time she played it down the middle, being as coy as possible and not doing much of anything. Just like now. Conservatives are making hay over her not mentioning Romney’s name with GOP nominee.

Usually that’s what it comes down to. What she didn’t say. An inflection in her voice. A particular phrase. And even when she did say something negative about Romney, she’d come out and praise him and then all the candidates.

She could have tipped the scales but chose to avoid the fight, while at the same time throwing bones at the conservatives and the GOPe simultaneously.

“Nonsense. As a Fox News commentator,”

I suspect that’s just an assumption. I’ve never seen any proof that that is part of her contract.

Here is what Sarah Palin did say:

I'll do whatever I can, of course, to get Anyone But Obama elected to the White House"

Well, in any case, she made it clear that she was behind Newt, and repeated her support several times. But she couldn’t pick him up and carry him over the finish line. He had her support, and FR’s support, but he still couldn’t cut it, and only was getting about half the votes that Rick was.

I’m still hoping for some conservative candidate other than Romney, but it’s hard to see how that’s going to happen at this point.

What would be absolutely rich is for somebody else to be chosen the nominee at the convention after Obama and the DNC have spent so much money and time campaigning against Romney.

Billions of so-called “Christians” will inhabit that place, alongside pagans, Buddhists, Mussel men, atheists, Zoroastrians, idolaters, sun worshipers and etc. Quit criticizing a good Christian woman for spurious reasons. When you've gone through 10% of what she's had to endure, come back and let me know.

Welcome to FR, but Palin did not play coy in her strong support for Newt Gingrich, she was very clear, and even had Todd do a formal endorsement as she did repeated mini-endorsements at opportune times to maximize the effect for Gingrich.

None of us were in doubt of who Palin supported in the primary.

You don’t know me, but you took the time to question my salvation because I criticized your favorite personality for valid reasons. Beyond these little bones here or there, can you tell me what she did to topple Romney or break the deadlock between the candidates that made it impossible to rally against Romney in one total bloc? I always see threads like this on various websites, with every person going ga ga over Palin, biting their nails and at the edge of their seat for hints that she was going to run for President... and now we have Mitt Romney.

Great work for everybody involved! High fives all around!

It’s never wise to embrace the cult of personality. I’ve learned, through long and hard experience, that man always fails you. There are no sacred cows. There are no sacred Palins either.

You won't be here long enough for me to waste my time explaining all that to you. Had you been here during the 2007-2010 period, you'd have seen all the ups-and-downs we went through and all the shenanigans the press, GOP-e and Vichy conservatives got up to.

It's been like fraternity rush around here with all the frantic Rombots demanding that we render the blood oath to (whatever his first name is) Romney. I can only surmise that they have been promised (lower level )jobs, maybe assistant to the director or an `ombudsman' of some sort in whatever (blue?) state they live in for their services provided in bullying the rest of us. We're like a herd of cats, aren't we? I continue to maintain that it is in our best interests to keep Mitt (?) guessing. He has in his pocket the lieberal Republicans over at the Weekly Standard, Wall Street Journal and National Review, and, of course, the Blond Disappointment. Of course, those in the middle are shell-shocked and are ready to bail on The Won. So it looks like he has it int he bag, but that still isn't good enough for them. The only pawns he isn't sure about are here and there, and other places, and he knows we aren't sold. Like buying a used car--someone feel free to post the wonderful picture of Used Car Salesman Romney, tooth glinting--you don't walk onto the lot holding out a fist-full of hundreds, and walk over to a particular car and tell a guy like Mitt, "You had me at `Hello'!" As of today I will go into the voting booth not knowing what I will do, and I recommend it to other conservatives as well. For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, it's called "Let's make a deal." So far all we're hearing from his (vocal) supporters here is, "Just give him a blank check ya schmo, fer cryin' out loud, you know the junker you're driving is no good--trust him, he's GOP, get your a**e** in line. What's wrong with you?!" Nope. Not gonna do it. Wouldn't be prudent. **Express** (that means `written,' for you Romrrhoids) assurances in the party platform would be a good start. `Nuff said. For now. I'm going to go nurse my cluster headache now.

I saw all of it. And it couldn’t have been so bad, since if she had run, her fame and reputation would have launched her to the White House no sweat.
