Makes sense. Hes got the build, the fashion sense, and just maybe the gaydar-pinging facial structure. And yet no ones sure yet that hes the one whos coming out. All we know is that its a male, that itll happen next month, and that hes one of the major iconic DC characters. Is there something youd like to tell us, Batman? Actually, no need: We already know. So which one is it? The folks at DC Comics arent saying, but they do say its the latest effort to make sure their comics keep up with the times. Last September, DC Comics relaunched its entire line of comic books to feature an updated look and a new lineup of LGBT superheroes: including Voodoo, an African American bisexual woman and Batwoman, an open lesbian
DC and (archrival) Marvel are recognizing that there is an LGBT audience that has been reading their comics for years, said Matt Kane, associate director of entertainment and media for GLAAD. When creating these fictional worlds its important to show the full diversity. Aside from making good business sense, Kane said younger readers are perfectly comfortable with gay characters and expect to see their peers represented.

Spacey and Routh are homosexuals?
Superman becomes THUPERman!!!!
It’ll be the Green Arrow...he’s a major lib, anarchist already. The Black Canary was just his beard. His real name is Ollie “Queen.”
I guess he’d have to be bi. He does have a son.
No one is sure about Spacey...lots of ‘rumors’; he keeps a ‘tight lid’ on things. Routh is married, but you saw that Superman outfit...faaaaaabulous. Many just didn’t see a lot of ‘SuperMAN’ in that flick; probably due to Singer’s influence.
The whole DC Universe was just overhauled and retconned last year; so everything is on the table.
Most bets are on Batman.
Right, which is why Superman is the lamest superhero of all. When you are pretty much invulnerable and can do anything you please, then your acts of heroism are that much less heroic. Superman defeating legions of villains is not much more impressive than a toddler kicking over an ant hill. Also, the storylines are totally predictable, since you know that every villain is going to whip a chunk of Kryptonite out at some point.
Well, I may be in the minority on this one, but I really enjoyed “Superman Returns.” It dragged a bit here and there, but after the 1970s visual FX, seeing Superman actually do things Superman could do was quite rewarding.
I do think Singer went a bit heavy on the Christ symbolism, but he was obviously a fan of the source material and particularly of Donner’s previous work. It was a great homage, but I understand why some folks didn’t like it.
I can’t wait to see Snyder’s take on it.
True, but CW just added a 'Green Arrow' show to their schedule that includes a 'Dinah Lance' of sorts in the cast, so not sure they are going to mess with him.
Media stars often make a deal out of being “gay.”
Sports stars seldom do.
Superman (or his non-super persona, Clark Kent) also is vulnerable to the usual drama of human intrigue. He has desires and wishes too, not all of them reasonable.
Making Superman gay would cheapen all that. Badly.
The shuttle/plane rescue at the beginning was epic, but the ‘spying’ on Lois Lane was a bit creepy...
Maybe the son or Speedy?
That’s actually my favorite scene in the movie. The look on his face when Lois says “No” she didn’t love him. The lonely piano music as the most powerful man on Earth vaults up to orbit to get away from the pain he just had inflicted on him. That was a powerful moment that was well-executed.
Though, yes, I agree, the premise was a bit creepy.
:-)
Maybe that is why the only superhero movie I’ve ever enjoyed it The Incredibles. ;-)
Marvel is popping the corn as we speak...this is 'new Coke' level stupidity, if true.
My money’s on Barnacle Boy.
lol...so they’re looking at taking a character arc that’s been done for decades and declaring that, “oh yeah, remember that guy? he’s a homosexual!”....that’s about as pandering as pandering gets.
You’re right, of course, that most people don’t know the difference and it’ll cause problems for the current comics and the upcoming movie.
No I don’t. I think that kid is being abused by her parents and their stupidity.
(I was being sarcastic in the original.)
