Didn’t I see this article FReeped yesterday?
Did it get the zot? I can see an argument for it.
Seems the author doesn’t have enough brain cells to rub together.
I WANNA MARRY MY TOMCAT!!! WAAAAAAAAAA
It’s amazing how liberals think that the governmental stamp of approval solves all problems. I guess that’s what makes them liberals.
He's rubbing something but its not brain cells.
They want to redefine marriage is to make it meaningless.
It’s like they always expect government to be big, benevolent uncles and aunts. Then when it goes rotten as it always does when vested with that kind of power, they make endless excuses for it.
Counterfeit marriage is the antithesis of conservatism.
More jamming from the homo-left.
They “think” with their genitals is the problem.
Catherine Poe has been a Liberal for as long as she can remember. Last year, Catherine was named one of the top Progressives in Maryland along with Senator Barbara Mikulski and Congresswoman Donna Edwards.
I am surprised that the washington times would publish this aricle since I always got the impression they were a conservative newspaper.
The writer could use the same 5 reasons to allow incest marriage. How long before we here that a brother and sister should be able to marry?
Liberalism AND homosexuality is a disease!
2. Gay marriage promotes family values.
How?
Marriage makes a family official.
OK, I'll grant you that, not that it's worth a whole lot.
It encourages the raising of children within that family.
Biology 101 fail.
Two parents. Isnt that what conservatives claim to support?
I've heard conservatives support having a Mother and a Father, yes.
Two random parents? Not so much.
Marriage makes for a more stable relationship
Maybe.
and encourages adoption of children.
Marriage encourages adoption? Where does THAT come from?
Heck, even Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are going to give marriage a whirl....
A worthless comparison if there ever was one...
3. Gay marriage promotes commitment and stability.
Yet to be seen.
4. Gay marriage promotes freedom.
??? How ???
In other words, Free to be you and me. Gay marriage would take the stigma out of being a gay couple...
The stigma doesn't come out of their being unmarried...
5. Gay marriage is an example of limited governmental powers.
Somebody told you to list five things, and so you threw this one in there, hoping no one would notice, right?
In case you haven't noticed, 30+ states have made it illegal, when brought to a vote. Having the Feds mandate it doesn't sound like "limited powers".
I love it when Lefties tell conservatives what conservative values are.
Will it be “limited government” that tells me that I have to recognize your gay marriage or else?
Two, five, 25 homosexuals can enter into a contract to live together and share property but it will never be a marriage.
Just a thought, but what about bi-sexuals? Should they not be allowed to marry two people, one of each sex since they can’t figure out their identity? I’m sure the dimwit that wrote this artcle can justify that as well.
As a Progressive, I assume that she opposes things that are Conservative. If she was in favor of Conservative values, she would be a Conservative. Therefore, by her own pen, she must be AGAINST Gay Marriage, and it is a “Progressive” Value (is there any such thing), to oppose Gay Marriage. Shall we list the ways now in which it promotes Progressivism to oppose Gay Marriage?
1.Marriage is just a “piece of paper”...
2........
to self: “As a Progressive, I assume...” of course means SHE is a Progressive, not that I am!
Doesn't this person know we are conservatives - not libertarians? There is quite a difference between the two.
