Stock futures edge higher on ECB hopes

FRANKFURT (MarketWatch) — U.S. stock index futures edged higher Friday, taking a cue from Europe as investor hopes appeared to rise for further stimulus action by the European Central Bank as European officials wrestle with a potential Greek exit from the euro zone.

Wall Street saw a late-session reversal Thursday to post a mostly positive close after Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti said he expected Greece to remain in the euro zone and that he believed German Chancellor Angela Merkel could be persuaded to accept the introduction of euro bonds.
