Huh? What is a hosepipe ban?

British term for water restriction. Like when you can't water the lawn or can only do so on alternate days.

OK, I thought it must be a British term.

I have really never lived anywhere that could restrict your water usage. I've always had my own well water.

Let me tell you about Denver, CO...frequent watering restrictions due low snow pack in the mountains. A couple of years ago, the water department pleaded for us to reduce consumption by rationing...we did significantly.....the next move by the water department was not to reduce staff or expenses, but to increase our rates per gallon consumed since demand and revenue had dropped.

They apparently were just practicing in order to take over the coming Obama health care program.

I have always said we could pick a name out of the phone book and win. Unfortunately we did. No one I know is voting for What's His name, but everyone I know is voting against Obama who will lose in a huge landslide.

I grew up in Southern USA ( Bamma and Fla) and never once heard that term for a hose/garden hose.
