Chris Matthews: Jesus Would Have Protected Kid Romney Chased
Real Clear politics ^ | 5/28/12

While discussing gay marriage with two black religious leaders on different sides of the issue, MSNBC's Chris Matthews said Jesus would not have chased a kid and cut his hair like Mitt Romney reportedly did as a youth in high school. Matthews says Jesus would have protected the kid. "I remember that Jesus always stood against the people being stoned," Matthews said to gay marriage opponent Bishop Harry Jackson of the Hope Christian Church. "He was the one who said, 'don't condemn people.' His friend was Mary Magdalene, right?" Matthews asked rhetorically. "He wasn't out there saying obey the law strictly like the pharisees were. He was the one saying, 'be Christian in the sense of looking out for mercy, people who were in trouble." "Do you think he would have been chasing after the kid with long hair and cutting his hair, or he would have been the one protecting the kid with long hair in high school?" Matthews asked.

And the astounding thing is that all thirty of Chrissy’s viewers agree with him.

“He was the one who said, ‘don't condemn people.’ His friend was Mary Magdalene, right?”

Everyone likes to use Jesus ONLY for His upside.

First of all: People being stoned were in the process of being killed. Second: Jesus “condemned” sin AND unrepentant sinners. Third: Mittens and a HELL of a lot of other nasty judgmental adolescents grew up to feel ashamed of their mean deeds.

How many times a day do you apply Jesus TO YOURSELF, Mr. Matthews? (Do either of your legs ever tingle for Jesus?)

Yawn. Matthews is employing the Alinsky device (see "Rules For Radicals") of using Judea-Christian precepts against his political foes, making them live up to their own convictions with the hope of exposing hypocrisy and discrediting Romney's character and more broadly people of faith and those whose who cherish Western values/culture.

The veracity of his claims aren't important. Making them disprove them is the goal, and since a negative cannot be disproved he declares victory by default. And naturally, he's banking on the braindead leftist tools to lap up this specious tripe like a thirsty long-desert-wandering-camel. Don't buy into it or debate it- just expose and reject it forcefully. This is a useful blueprint for all such hack attacks from leftist scum.

Exactly... They always forget parts like that when attempting to use our faith in Jesus and God against us to promote their socialist agenda. All they ever succeed in doing is showing how truly ignorant they are.

I’m a firm believer in bringing others to God through love, mercy, charity, etc... I don’t believe anyone ever truly comes to know God through fear. However, as a parent I also know that love sometimes mean you have to be truthful with your child - despite if they may feel bad, or “guilty”, or even “hate” you at some times. To NOT hold people responsible for actions that hurt themselves or others is NOT love - it is apathy.

I vehemently disagree with behaviors such as Romney exhibited in SUPPOSED defense of “faith”. However, I also reject the liberal “understanding” of Jesus as one who didn’t stand for truth, and was “tolerant” of everything He saw - clearly that was NOT the case. He would not have challenged his fellow Jews on THEIR understanding of scripture were that so.

When was the last time Chris Matthews picked up a Bible?

It's been quite a while. Chris remembers the bad burns he got on his fingers so it's unlikely he'll try to pick one up again any time soon.

Trying to fit the Creator of the universe into his small world view box... Sorry Chris, Jesus is not a respecter of persons, especially those who try to fit Him into some preconceived, political notion of who He is. I don’t presume to speak for Jesus (but I have a hunch He might agree) when I say, Chris, you’re such a dumbsh!t...

“He wasn’t out there saying obey the law strictly like the pharisees were”

Uh, someone needs to point these verses out to Chrissy:

“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfil them. For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished. Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”-Matthew 5:17-19

Pope John II declared that Mormonism is not a Christian religion, which is the universal view of Christianity regarding Mormonism.

Bishop Romney does not accept or recognize the Christian Jesus.

We don’t know if that lad was a Christian, but we do know that Mitt Romney is not, in fact his role was and is, to try and convince others to abandon Christ.

Matthews’ opinions really aren’t worth a response. He’s a Democratic hack, just what he’s always been.

I guess Chrissy hasn't heard that it never happened.

She's always a leg-tingle behind.

Chris Mattews, the draft-dodger.
He graduated college and was out of exemptions.
He was still eligible to be drafted.
He joined the peace corps instead.

Hey Chris, prove me wrong.
