Schumer calls for federal review of grill brush safety, possible recall

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) has called on the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to review whether metal grill brushes are safe for consumer use, after reports that some metal bristles broke off the brush and were swallowed, sending two men to the hospital.

"Metal bristles are one topping no one wants on their burger this holiday season," Schumer said Tuesday. "Grilling season should be a great time for the whole family, not a time to be worried about an emergency visit to the hospital."

Schumer said men from New Jersey and Washington State were recently hospitalized after swallowing metal bristles that fell off their grill brushes. He said that reports indicate that similar incidents occurred nearly a dozen times over the last three years.

Lets see, lets take a cheap product made in China. Its plastic with metal bristles inserted.

Hold it over a hot fire and apply force to it which loosen the bristles.

Then don’t check to make sure your grill is clean and safe for use.

yep we need more federal oversight.

You use the brush on the grill not the burgers!

Who died and made you king of the grill brushes?

(That's Charlie Schmuck's job.)

This looks like some kind of rainbow legislation. Who in their right mind wants to swallow brass bristles? Aside from licking and swallowing ........

Oh, good grief, Chuck... Don't you have anything better to do?

He literally doesn't. Relentless expansion of the State is his whole reason for existence.

Why not have federal brush inspectors tag the brushes? BBQ Enforcement officers could then randomnly inspect brushes to see if they have a current inspection tag. Each grill can be equipped with x-ray equipment in which hamburgers must be viewed prior to being placed on a platter. There are many alternatives to Schumer’s plan to simply ban the brushes. When will common sense prevail? Will it be when the Chinese have all the BBQ brushes and we have none?

Look, peeps, this is all very simply solved. The brush should contain a warning:

DO NOT EAT THIS BRUSH

I agree - and it’s not something I had ever thought about or worried about. But yeah - obviously it doesn’t need another federal committee to deal with it.

One good lawyer could probably solve the problem.

starts with a congressman's concern about the safety of a BBQ grill brush and if history holds true to the US government, especially this current one, it will likely evolve to nation wide elimination of family style BBQs altogether.

$17 trillion in debt, 95% of it while Shmucky was in the Senate after chasing amblances in NYC...

...and the anti-American Libtard, gun-grabber, voter ID law killer, exempt-from-ObamacCare-advocate-of-ObamaCare Commie is worried about grill brushes.

Wow. What a jackass.
