AURORA, Colo. – Police have a “person of interest” in custody in connection with the robbery of the Wells Fargo back at 15301 E. Hampden Avenue Saturday afternoon.

Immediately following the robbery, police closed the intersection of Iliff and Buckley after reports the suspect might have taken hostages.

According to our crew on the scene, police stopped and searched nearly two dozen cars. The adult occupants of the vehicles were handcuffed during the investigation.

Better yet, the police should have handed in their guns and vests then went out at the intersections and just started asking passerby’s nicely and sweetly if they were the robbers:

“Excuse sir or ma’am I have no idea if you ARE the robbers who might have guns and hostages, but if you are could you PLEASE tell me.”

“No?”

Well, OK then by golly. That’s a good enough answer for me. See you later.”

"As long as they were white it's OK. If they were black Jessie & Al will sue them into oblivion after Holder shuts the State down.. If they were Hispanic Whore-Al-Do will sue them into oblivion and shame them on the BOR show."

Interesting observation. I wonder what was the race and sex composition of the group that was detained? Was there any difference in treatment of the various groups? What was the legal basis to detain and search vehicles and people who just happened to be traveling through a particular intersection? etc. The FOIAs and legal motions should have already started.

Fourth Amendment – [Protection from unreasonable search and seizure.] The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Fifth Amendment – [Due process, double jeopardy, self-incrimination, eminent domain.] No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

Yeah - that pesky Constitution is so inconvenient, and just gets in the way of ‘Effective Law Enforcement’...

Right???

They should file suit for false imprisonment, reckless endangerment of life, violation of established law with regard to suspicion, probable cause and timely notification of arrest.

These goons should be imprisoned. Nothing but goddam goons.

You’re exactly right. There should be no active investigation of any crime ever again.

Everyone should just be expected to go tell the police on themselves as opposed to the police attempting to solve the crime.

It should just be one person sitting in a small office waiting for all the lawbreakers to turn themselves in so that they aren’t all illegally detained for questioning because the whole process of a criminal investigation is actually unconstitutional.

I can see it now, with that new system, all the murderers and rapists and bank robbers just turning themselves sin for due process, and no police out there running roughshod over the constitution by illegally investigating things.

If your response is implying you are a police officer, you shouldn’t be one in my opinion.

Exaggerate much?

Every time someone posts about "The Great Takeover" conspiracy it's an exaggeration. An extremely annoying one too.
The USA has already been taken over, we're already under despotic rule.
Stormtroopers marching down mainstreet burning patriots alive is an all around ridiculous conspiracy story, illogical at best. Especially when we've slowly almost succumbed to that level already.
The leftists cried out that there was going to be a rightwing takeover in the eighties, the conservatives cried the same conspiracy story under Clinton, then the leftists again under Bush, now we're back to the conservatives crying wolf again.
It's old and it's tired. The only reason the government is so big and bloated and despotic is because we the people have let them become so.
Incidentally, I know no police officers who do actually take orders from anyone except their Chief and their respective state statutes. If "The Great Takeover" conspiracy materialized there is no police officer I know of that would take any orders from any federal official. The rightwing conspiracy theorists never seem to realize that the reason that the police in socialist countries turn into SS stormtroopers is because the police in all the socialist countries (ie Europe) are federal government police already.......not quite the same set-up as the local law enforcement in the US.

Oh, cut the cops a break! They are just following orders.

That argument didn’t hold water at Nuremburg.

Then who is to blame for what we read and see first hand every day? Pets being killed on the spot for no reason? Doors being blown open and innocent people being killed because the police cant even get the god**m address right? Unlawful detention? Planting false evidence? And this is happening more frequently by the day. I have seen some of this firsthand so if you feel the police are being unfairly treated you have only yourselves to blame.

I’m not sure if you are making a joke here, but I’ll assume you are.

The Police know that the law “can” come down on them just as hard as the rest of us. “I was just following orders” was dis-proven as a legitimate defense at Nuremberg and it applies here also. Also the concept of “Ignorance of the Law” isn’t a legitimate defense either, (Even though it should be in some cases).

No what I think is happening in this instance as well as in other locations around the U.S. is that the Police are finding themselves at a mid-ground between being a “Law and Order” Peace Officer and a Para-Military type. It’s a terribly fine line between the two positions at times and crisis and stressful situations don’t really lend themselves to calm and rational thinking.

I feel for them terribly and know myself well enough that I wouldn’t be a good Police Officer. But with all of that empathy and feeling aside they really need to know that the law applies to them also and breaking it in the pursuit of their duties needs to be prosecuted and punished as necessary.

Thank you.
Now please excuse me as I must go shoot a bunch of dogs and send a bunch of white babies to Guantanamo Bay.
