AURORA, Colo. – Police have a “person of interest” in custody in connection with the robbery of the Wells Fargo back at 15301 E. Hampden Avenue Saturday afternoon.

Immediately following the robbery, police closed the intersection of Iliff and Buckley after reports the suspect might have taken hostages.

According to our crew on the scene, police stopped and searched nearly two dozen cars. The adult occupants of the vehicles were handcuffed during the investigation.

“Why don’t they go to Congress and detain all the ‘Rat reps. Without a doubt the robbery suspect is there and they’ll find quite a few others.”

The place is stuffed to the ceiling with filthy, no good scoundrels. They would need a truck just to haul the handcuffs.

"The circumstances required them to take such action."

The problem with such a rationale is that it can be used to contravene the Constitution and cover almost anything depending on the viewpoint. Obama could say, for instance, that the Tea Party, is endangering his efforts to improve the US and save the economy. Therefore, teapartiers must be locked up for the duration of the Obama declared emergency.

I see all patriots as untrustworthy anarchists who would like to shoot me...

Man, we have come a long way down the police state. A long long way. You sounded reasonable but just disconnected for most of your posts. Now I learn you are deep into the "if you aren't blue you are the enemy" mentality. Since you are here, you are probably one of the better LEOs out there who believe in freedom. If you are deep into seeing us as the enemy, I can only imagine the contempt most other LEO see us with.

Very disappointing but not unexpected, as I've been saying for 2 or 3 years that we are well on our way toward becoming a police state. They are going to need storm troops who take orders without question and I can see they are well on their way when the more freedom-loving of LEOs has your attitude that all civilians are the enemy and "patriots" are untrustworthy anarchists. Anarchists? Really? Do anarchists believe in a constitution and law? Gee, that's news to me.

We really are in a police state with the LEOs seeing all of us as the enemy, not just the bad guys. Man, I so hate modern life. I really do.

“Let’s cut the cops some slack when they are after bad guys using legal means.”

*********************

I wondered if I read that line wrong the first couple of times. So its your contention that impromptu mass detentions in which no probable cause can possibly exist to detain *everyone* constitute “legal means” under state law and doesn’t violate the 4th Amendment?

Wow.

>>Your post sounds like you are coming from the perspective of one of the above criticisms.

I think you are incorrect, and that this is a both/and situation, not either/or.

And if this guy is a cop, he is very much part of the problem.

Us slaves gotta be taught our place, right.

But the question remains, who moved? Evidence shows that it was the police’s view of the lawabiding citizen.

Of all the cops I’ve known and come in contact with ( some in my own family), NONE have been very bright. At least not bright enought to a actually understand the bill of rights. There’s a lot of multi-syllable words in there and no pictures.

Watch the video at the link, children being rounded up, separated from their parents by gunpoint. Sad. And just wrong.

You have the right to remain silent. If you give up the right to remain silent, you will be zotted into oblivion.

Which side fosters the "us vs. them" more at this point?

Apparently, you do.

"What they were doing was DOING THEIR JOB & CATCHING THE BAD GUY. Sometimes that causes some inconvenience."

Rounding up innocent bystanders and handcuffing them all is not just "doing their job." THat is the very description of a POLICE STATE. (But then, some folks just love to slobber all over black leather boots.)

There should be no active investigation of any crime ever again.

Police may investigate. They cannot mass arrests of innocents. If the cops can't do their job without flagrant violation of the law, then they need to lose their badges at the very minimum, or face jail time for violation of civil rights.

It is not a fine distinction.

Grow up.

There is no defense for what happened there. men, women and Children held for 2 plus hours for what reason?..........they were at the wrong intersection at the wrong time.

The "brave" leo's hiding behind riot shields.

What is even more unbelievable is some one "supposedly' a professional leo defending this.

the video is a must watch.

Ignoring the constitutional issue; which is huge, the police removed everyone ability to defend themselves. By handcuffing everyone, they prevented people from being able to protect themselves if something went wrong. If shooting started, the persons handcuffed would just have to sit and hope no bullet found their location. And when the shooting starts the police tend to miss more than they hit. There are very reliable ways to handle these types of situations, but handcuffing everyone in the area is one of the poorest ways.

There was no concern for public safety either. If there was a desperate criminal trapped at this mass detention, there would have been a great deal of blood shed, bullets flying everywhere, citizens exposed and killed while the leo's and the criminal shot it out, dead kids.

Is this what is meant by protect and serve?
