The police failed to follow correct procedure. The people taking the video should have been arrested

I take that because you see all so-called patriots as ‘untrustworthy anarchists’ it is difficult for you to distinguish between or you have your own judgements of patriotism. So be it. As for me I see many ‘law enforcement’ personnel as would be bullies in the cover of law. This applies especially to having unions which force most of society to pay for protection after the fact.

>>I see all patriots as untrustworthy anarchists who would like to shoot me if I dare try to investigate a crime.<<

WHAT IS A PATRIOT?

PATRIOTS are not “Revolutionaries” trying to overthrow the government of the United States.

PATRIOTS are “Counter-Revolutionaries” trying to prevent the government of the United States, from overthrowing the Constitution of the United States. - Unknown Author

When? Right after a dumbass move like this. Remember a couple weeks ago when it appeared that a fake cop down south might be pulling people over, killing, and robbing them? Just one really gross, bad move like this and folks will not only fail to respond to police but will arm themselves against them. Remember regular folks in this country are armed to the teeth and will not put up with dumbassness for long. I know that waving handcuffs at me for no apparent reason is going to start a game of hardball.

go into WalMart or CVS and get a pre-paid visa card - you MUST activate it with your SSN. Reason? Patriot Act. No purpose whatsoever. We lost privacy, and terrorists like Atta picked up envelopes of cash around Florida anyway. It should be repealed.

In short, as my father puts it, "the terrorists have won."

I agree with you on Glen Beck...weirdo and loose with facts.

But I fear the militarization of police and deputies which has so mushroomed in my half century life.

Gone are the days of beat or patrol cops in nifty non threatening uniforms and service revolvers...replaced by jocks with tattoos imitating what they think is a Strike team look

every hamlet over 10,000 folks now have battle wagons, full auto and all the other black tools.

it's just not how it was intended.....

so far only Highway patrol seems somewhat less inclined in that direction...but they were always more regimented to begin with

it's not just guns...old timey cops had to deal with serious weapons at times too in some hands...Bonnie and Clyde had BAR and Tommys as did the bent nose gangsters

but we have allowed LEOs to assume this posture everywhere...even bucolic suburbs ...”just in case”

but meanwhile, our inner cities where blacks and some latinos predominate are lost...no matter how much black gear, shaved heads and APCs

i live in Williamson County TN...rich and conservative pasture and horse farm country...folks from everywhere...about half non southern...Nashville's southern metro county

cops here are everywhere and very active...you drive late at night and you will likely get followed or stopped...for drinking(i don't ..none)....I'm 54 and work at night...stopped rountinely and then asked if I have anything in the car they should know about...well, they can kiss my ass and I hand it right back to them

I'm not some long haired kid in a VW Combi in 1972 smoking crappy Mexican weed listening to Aqualung anymore so bugger off

I have broken no laws and work my ass off 7 days a week to support a family of 7 and pay huge taxes locally...taxes which are more than my personal income

it is intrusive and it's incremental and it's not like when i grew up when county cops were like constables with .45 Long Colts and a slouch hat and a personal help out demeanor

and it's not a bit more dangerous now county wise in Dixie...maybe even safer with so many meterosexuals around

I would agree with you that some “militia or patriot or particularly Christian Identity or Posse Comitatus” sorts are violent hostile to LEOs and pose a threat...it's happened...COPS and Most Wanted shows demonstrate these sorts over and over as the narrative

but most Bitter Clingers are not that...by a long shot

one can fear the growth, attitude, posture and eventual aims of the Police Establishment but not call for violence but respect unless things progress considerably beyond this juncture

but invariably there will the instances where decent folks have cause to fear those sworn to protect...ATF, Waco, Ruby Ridge, Katrina Gun Confiscations, Elian and so forth

I personally don't think most cops would side with a progressive government at this point but Slow Tyranny is another matter

sorry you feel on the outs...being a cop and dealing with tragedy..kids or fellow officers ...deserves our sympathy

you have mine...if it does boil over one day...you may have to make a choice

i don't say this lightly...I have been in African Civil Wars and they had none of the neat tools we have and they were simply so mind numbing just observing as a businessman...it would be awful...to replicate 1861-1865 now here yet again would be Stalinesque or worse..Ustashi like .. the last war here which we southerners see remnants of daily was bad enough I assure you...a fraction of the folks, primitive weapons and a populace with more dignity..a dignity long lost since then...it would be horrific now...it would be Run For the Hills...to no avail

How? Roadblocks are fine but the cops MUST state their case. A temporary hold on an area is fine but, again, the cops MUST state their case. But handcuffs/detention is an arrest and the cops had better be able to defend that loudly and proudly and clearly.

I once put a butthead on the ground, held him there with my bare hands, until a cop came and locked him up. At the guys trial his lawyer tried to claim the guy hadn’t really been “arrested”. The judge said “ —what’s your point? —on the ground, hands locked up, couldn’t get up——in this court that’s arrested. “

I’m just reading from top to bottom.

This, I believe is your second post on this thread, and from the tone and words of this second response you’ve already admitted that your arguments won’t stand up to clear logic and legal thinking.

Gonna be a fun read forward.

That article comments post is perhaps most frightening of all. You have a victim who posts details of what happened, expresses outrage, knows what happened is illegal, and then won’t give his name or file a complaint because of fear of the police and what they might do to him if he did. The police state has already taken over in his case.

I now have to wonder if the next so-called patriot I come into contact with is going to be just as dangerous & life-threatening to me as a drugged-out gangbanger.

Let's put some perspective to that statement by changing ONE word:

I now have to wonder if the next so-called patriot LEO I come into contact with is going to be just as dangerous & life-threatening to me as a drugged-out gangbanger.

It was necessary in this situation. An innocent life was at stake. The detentions were not excessive, nor politically motivated.

What is that famous quote about a populace that gives up freedom for security and therefore, in the end, will have neither? The mass detentions, use of weapons to remove adults and children from cars are not only excessive, but unconstitutional and should be severely sanctioned. This is the type of police behavior that breaks any bond between the citizenry and police, but can easily lead to violence on both sides that has nothing to do with the original crime.

We moved to Colorado in 1986, but not to Denver. Aurora is a SE suburb.

Since that time, it seems that Aurora LEO has a 25 year unblemished history of trampling on the Constitutional rights of anyone they come in contact with, with the possible exception of protected minorities.

“That is a hop-skip-jump from extrajudicial execution.”

I see as just that...executions. “Do as I say or else!” I said probably 10 years ago that it will get to the point that if a cop is headed your direction we’ll need to kill it before it kills you. We are nearly there.

Once I saw that FBI agent shoot that kid in the face for “reaching for something” as he was trying to unbuckle his seatbelt and exit the vehicle as ordered I knew that was the direction law enforcement was headed.

Now we see cops shoot for all kinds of reasons. “Dog seemed vicious”, even though it was a toy poodle. “Person seemed to be reaching for something”, even though they were ordered to present their ID from their pocket. “It was dark and he was reaching for something”, even though the cops stopped the person in a dark alley and could have ordered them first into the light. “It was an accident”, even though they pointed a loaded gun at the back of a 9 year old boy with their finger on the trigger. None of these incidents ever resulted in prosecution of wrongful death, murder, or manslaughter.

In short, as my father puts it, "the terrorists have won."

The terrorists have indeed won. Multi-agency anal probes of every American, high-tech software surveilance of every Facebook, Twitter and FreeRepublic post, SSNs and Federal reporting required for opening bank accounts and prepaid debit cards, cameras everywhere and soon drones will fill the skies. All from the disgusting, un-American USA-PATRIOT Act. And we haven't caught a single terrorist with it. Why can't we just repeal it?
