Scoutmaster, jboot, is absolutely correct. Growing up (In Las Vegas), my family was very into scouting. Several of us were Eagles. The troop that all of my family attended (that did attend) was affiliated with a United Methodist church (well, 2 different ones, as the troop eventually split).

One of my uncles was in a high leadership position within the scouting program, and I also knew several “Latter-day Saints” in leadership positions. When the “homosexuals in scouting issues” came up in the late 1990’s/early 2000’s, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints nearly cut it’s ties with the BSA. They began a program known as “Duty to God” (IIRC) which had many different goal to work towards (similar to BSA ranks/badges). It was being designed to correspond to an “Eagle rank” (for BSA), and there was to be no more encouragement to join BSA or affiliation with them. The BSA completely dropped any involvement in what we often term “The homosexual agenda.”

I heard at the time some figures too, but no longer recall them, but if I recall correctly the amount of funds from the BSA by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the time was something like 1/3 or 1/2 (sizable is all I remember for sure). The “Duty to God” program remains, and is now somewhat supplemental to the BSA program. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints also has drives often to donate through “Friends of Scouting.”

If the BSA was to ever to take up the homosexual agenda, they would rapidly hemorrhage scouts and funding. You can bank on that.

Just an update, I found this from Wikipedia, it mentions enrollment, but not financials.
________________________________________________________
“The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), a longtime supporter of the Boy Scouts of America, teaches that homosexual activity is immoral.[91] The LDS Church is the largest single sponsor of Scouting units with over 30,000 units nationwide, which comprise about 13% of BSA’s youth members.[6][92] The LDS Church has stated that it would withdraw from the Scouting program if it was ever compelled to accept openly homosexual Scout leaders.[6][93] This does not differ from the LDS Church policy of allowing “non practicing” self professed gay members to enjoy all the same rights and privileges as any other Church member.

The United Methodist Church, the second-largest sponsor of Scouting units, has taken no public position on the controversy surrounding allowing openly gay leaders in Scouting, although in recent years the Church itself has had an ongoing internal debate regarding whether or not to accept LGBT clergy.”
