The companion of the new French president has finally found a role for herself, but her choice is getting mixed reviews.
Valérie Trierweiler, the partner and closest confidante of President François Hollande, said she wanted to continue working as a journalist, prompting some to complain about the potential conflict of interest.
Ms. Trierweiler has covered political and cultural issues for Paris Match magazine for more than 20 years. Since Mr. Hollande took office, she negotiated with the magazine to continue to contribute book and art reviews and other cultural coverage a few times a month.
Its an unprecedented situation, Olivier Royan, the chief editor of Paris Match, said in a telephone interview. But it is her own choice of career, and it isnt a professional mistake because Ms. Trierweiler has been a real professional for 22 years.
On Thursday, her first piece as first lady will appear: a review of a French book by Claude-Catherine Kiejman about Eleanor Roosevelt, who while at the White House wrote a column about her daily life and views on social and political issues.
Well! Will you look at that? A first lady who is also a journalist isnt a novelty, Ms. Trierweiler wrote in her article

What a conflict of interest! A monarchy indeed.
Even the left is against Valerie, and her pompous pushiness and arrogance.
Jean Quatremer, a journalist for the leftwing newspaper Libération, who recently wrote a book called Sex, Lies and the Media, called it astonishing.
When you decide to be with a politician or with a journalist, you know what it involves, Mr. Quatremer said.

They should have figured her out after the WhiteHouse visit. She wore sky-high 670.oo shoes only to look like a street walker attending a ladies luncheon.
They will wish for the days they had Carla to kick around.
France is usually all that and a bag of chips in fashion but the First Tramp of France isn’t going to win them any prizes. The Brits own it now... Kate is tops!
Thanks Cincinna.
First lady? LOL.
Were the mistresses of all those French Kings called Queen?
Does this make Hollande’s ex-”parnter” and baby mama the equivalent of Catherine of Aragon?
Was Monica Lewinsky our first lady?
I don’t want to insult her, she’s ok looking, but calling her first lady?
First Tramp.
Seeing Kate in her classy look and cute figure almost makes me want to put away the potato chips! :D
I know. That girl just looks great in everything Can’t take a bad picture, and yet so natural looking. Even those wacky Englush hats look adorable on her.
She is becoming a real trendsetter in fashion. Young girls now all want to look like Kate, not like little hookers.
There is a fun blog called What Kate Wore

On FB too. Enjoy!
I wouldn’t call Bruni a lady. Check into her history. I predict she’s even too much the slut for Sarkozi now that she’s older
I know. It takes real panache to pull off a hat! And she does just that. I do hope this fashion leader is not
one ofThose Girls whose aperitif is a couple of fingers in the ladies room...she has that bulimic look...
