Obama walks back comment about private economy 'doing fine'
The Hill ^ | June 8, 2012 | Amie Parnes

Hours after saying the private sector is "doing fine," President Obama on Friday walked back those remarks, saying it's "absolutely clear" the economy is not fine.

"That's precisely why I asked Congress to start taking some steps to make a difference," Obama said.

Obama corrected himself at a press availability in the Oval Office just hours after after he made the original remark to reporters in the White House briefing room.

Republicans, recognizing a political gift, had pounced on Obama's initial remarks, which came a week after a dismal jobs report found the economy added only 69,000 jobs in May.

They compared Obama's comment to Sen. John McCain's (R-Ariz.) election-changing comments when he said, "the fundamentals of our economy are strong."

Obama's opponent, Mitt Romney, immediately slammed Obama, accusing him of being "out of touch."

"I think he's really defining what it means to be out of touch with reality," Romney said. Speaker John Boehner echoed that sentiment on Capitol Hill, saying, "Take it from me, the private sector is not doing well."

We are getting dangerously, deliciously close to my long-predicted Obama Total Crack-up, I feel.

Should be part of every campaign commercial.

AMEN!

BHO can't walk it back. We all know that is what he thinks (as idiotic as it is!).

“Walking it back” is becoming as annoying a cliche as “at the end of the day...” used to be.

Wow.

Just bloody freakin' WOW!

I can't believe this.

Here's a transcript of that video (with all the "uhhh"s) :

We've got a couple of sectors in our economy that are still weak.
Overall, the private sector has been doing a good job of creating jobs.
We've seen record profits in the corporate sector.
The big challenge we have right now in our economy is state and local government hiring has been going in the wrong direction.

government hiring has been going in the wrong direction

That's his challenge!

"Obama total crackup" or quackup, and it should look something like this: It's gonna be a real lu-lu too! All his life he's been told that his s*** smells like Sweet Peas, and over the last three years he couldn't turn around without screwing up. This is what happens when a communist organizer ignores the Peter Principle: `If You Have A Peter, Don't Act Like A Bitch'.....

Well, I’d rather hear about “walking it back” instead of “FORWARD” when it comes to Obama.

"State and local government hiring has been going in the wrong direction."

I take it that states, counties, cities and towns have been trying to hang on by their fingernails and produce some kind of budgets that keep them from crashing and burning completely and 0bowMao is upset that they aren't following his lead into perdition.

Of course he said what he ment in both statements. Translated from Obamese, “I don’t give a rat’s ass about the private sector because all I want to do is raise taxes to pay for public jobs for my sycophants.”

I heard his walk-back on radio - an extended quote w/o interruptions. He was totally condescending and snotty, with the petulant attitude of, "how could anyone be so stupid to think I made a mistake?"

“Hubris often indicates a loss of contact with reality and an overestimation of one’s own competence or capabilities, especially when the person exhibiting it is in a position of power”.

""I think he's really defining what it means to be out of touch with reality," Romney said."

But he manaaged to do a Clinton “fiscal cliff” by blaming Congress again.

“That’s why I spent yesterday, the day before yesterday, this past week, this past month and this past year talking about how we can make the economy stronger”

Really?

Yesterday - Campaign events in LA and Vegas

The day before - Campaign events in San Francisco (oddly no mention of D-Day from Barry on that day)

The day before that - I dunno - NOTHING listed on his schedule

The day before that day - Campaign events in NYC

Last Friday - Campaign in Minneapolis

....I’m seeing a pattern develop.

Obama asked the teleprompter, “You keep telling me to say the word economy, what does the word economy mean?”.

It's the golden goose you are trying to kill:

It means the hundreds of thousands of American small businesses and the jobs they create.

It means the dollar generating private property and sweat equity of the American People.

The wealth producing, private sector side of the economy is totally owned by the people.

The wealth confiscating, public sector side of the economy, is comprised of the various groups of "entitlee" parasites and millions of do-nothing bureaucratic parasites.

His walk-back is so snotty and condescending, as if to say, of course I did not mean what I said. Are YOU stupid or what? No one could be THAT stupid to have said what I did or believe that I said it. You swine just have lying ears!

Lefty blogs are saying he was just being “nuanced,” but the right was too stupid to see it, therefore he had to “clarify.” And they also believe the private sector is doing fantastic.
