Conservatives and Romney work at working together

Conservatives at the core of the Republican Party are coalescing behind likely GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney faster than expected...

"I'm going (to support him) because it's my responsibility and, frankly, almost anything is going to be better than Obama," said Steve Troxel, chairman of the Lynchburg Republican Party in swing-state Virginia.

"The emerging consensus among conservatives is that the Republican House will lead the conservative charge and Romney will be in the White House to sign bills, rather than advance his own agenda," said Republican consultant Matt Mackowiak, who supported Texas Gov. Rick Perry in the primary. "Conservatives don't universally claim Romney as one of their own, but they appear to have united behind him, perhaps reluctantly, but without question."

Sorry -- the second half of my post #78 is attributable to so-real -- I forgot to put it italics. Still worth the bump!

In a way, if Romney wins, all pretense that there exists a party in opposition to the liberal agenda disappears. In a sense ... "we're all democrats now". We are witnessing the republican party devolve into the democrat party.

Hugh Hewitt, a great Right Radio talk show host, had me sold on Romney back in '06 or '07.

My very first post on FR was against Hugh Hewitt.

I don't believe there is a "typical Romney grassroot type". There are only RINO's who view politics like it's "our team against their team / we don't care if a rascal wins as long as it's our rascal", and those who "wish things were different" but are willing to hold their nose and vote for one evil hoping to block another evil.

We can't fix the RINO's. But the other group I hope can be reached. Our Saviour Himself taught us "And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?" You can't pit a liberal against a liberal and expect to shake out a conservative. Those hoping to do so are voting for Romney and will be as sorely disappointed in their buyer's remorse as the disenfranchised Obama supporters are today.

I am delighted it appears Virgil Goode will be on the ballot in my state (Wisconsin). I'll have someone to vote *for* instead of against. I'm actually pretty happy about that and looking forward to it.

We are witnessing the republican party devolve into the democrat party.

Some are only witnesses.

Too many are voluntary participants, in spite of their own reluctance. ABO is panic-driven hysteria which has people on the brink of voting for someone who has advanced and supported pretty much every liberal agenda they're against.

Pray for a miracle that will give conservatives clear heads and victory.

Yes, I think Virgil Goode looks interesting. So does Tom Hoekstra.

It's sad that I fully understand that the chances of victory for the guy I'll vote FOR (whoever it is -- won't decide until I know who's on the ballot) are virtually nil. I am praying for a miracle that we end up with a situation where a conservative can take the presidency in 2013. Miracles do happen.

Romney SECRETLY wants the SCOTUS to "uphold" the Romney-Obama Socialist Heath Care Plan ... anyone who believes otherwise is a DAMNED FOOL ...

Bump to the top.

Conservatives and Romney work at working together

If a man says he's a faithful husband but he messes around on the weekends, is he a faithful husband?

If someone says they're a conservative, but they support a liberal, are they conservative?

Actions speak louder than words.

Amen
I’m voting for the one most likely to defeat Obama..

I love America too much to passively allow Obama 4 more years to complete his mission to destroy our country.

I smell backroom carrot. One of the reasons - perhaps the only reason - why Romney won was the GOP-e's "second is next" rule. By that same rule - their rule - the heir apparent is now Rick Santorum.

"You work with our boy and we'll work with yours."

“If someone says they’re a conservative, but they support a liberal, are they conservative? “

By your definition, Santorum, Gingrich, Bachmann, Palin, Cain, Coulter are NOT conservative, because they are supporting Romney against Obama. And those who are sitting by, letting Obama get a second term are the “true conservatives.

Logic, anyone?

“GOP = Vulture Corporatism.”

With this statement you let the cat out of the bag and shown your true socialist colors. Obama is proud of you.

“So I take it you’ve been a pretty solid Romney guy for many years. Am I correct?”

No. But the primaries are over. It’s Romney or Obama.

You can pick Obama, it’s a free country, so far, just don’t pretend.

...but this year we have to choose to defeat Obama in any way possible.

I reject that premise. Obama is a scarecrow. See how he'd do opposed to a Congress with a lot more conservatives -- and it's fair to think there could be a big swing to the right in state and local races. See how he'd do if he was publicly rejected by the majority of voters and won on an anti-mandate plurality. Most Americans loathe him, though the the MSM has the majority of Americans believing they're the minority.

On the other hand, see how Romney (have you really looked at his record?) would do "swept" into office with a "landslide mandate."

Romney has been a liberal statist all of his political life. He has a machine that will spin his "landslide victory" into "mandate" -- including "sensible" and "responsible" legislation to save the planet, "Let's bring the Republican party in to the 21st century, none of this climate change 'denial' stuff" kind of Republican. You know, a grown-up. An adult, as Romney types like to think of themselves. Which tells you how they think of their opposition -- conservatives, people like you and me and the folks we voted for.

Under Romney with a "mandate," moderate Republicans and Democrats would unite in noble bipartisan support of a Republican's solution to the [non-existent] problem -- and conservatives who try to oppose it will be snubbed and told, "Sit down and shut up."

Not supporting Romney is not the same as supporting BHO
However, voting for one liberal instead of the other liberal is the same thing.

“Not supporting Romney is not the same as supporting BHO”

Yes it is.

The vote you are withholding from Romney may be the vote he would have needed to beat Obama.

Just think back at the Bush-Gore election and Florida.

Wow. Shades of Part I of the 2012 Primary -- the 2008 Primary.

Innovative, now I know you're a from-the-start Romney supporter. Not a "lesser of evils" one, but the kind that was rooting for him back in '07 and '08. How do I know?

Because you are loose with the truth in exactly the same way Romney pushers always are. My guess: You've considered Romney just fine for the Republican party for a number of years, haven't you?
