Romney on Obama’s economic speech: ‘Talk is cheap’
Yahoo ^ | June 14, 2012 | Holly Bailey

Posted on 06/14/2012 12:43:31 PM PDT by BradtotheBone

As President Barack Obama prepared to deliver a major economic speech in Cleveland, Ohio, Mitt Romney was on the opposite side of the state, trashing Obama's talk on the economy as "cheap" and urging Americans to judge the president by his "actions" not his words.

"If you think things are going swimmingly … then he's the guy to vote for," Romney told supporters at an aluminum factory in Cincinnati.

But the Republican nominee argued that Obama hasn't delivered on his 2008 promise to turn the economy around and insisted that "almost everything" his administration has done has instead made it harder for businesses to create jobs.

"Talk is cheap," Romney said. "But actions speak very loud. If you want to see the results of his economic policies, look at Ohio and look around the country. … What he says and what he's done are not always the same exact thing."

Romney's remarks weren't dramatically new. With a few minor exceptions, the GOP candidate stuck largely to his regular stump speech. But the optics around his Ohio event were clearly aimed at stealing some of Obama's thunder, as the president prepared to deliver what the White House described as a major economic address.

While Romney's speech was originally set to begin five minutes after Obama took the stage in Cleveland, his campaign moved up the start time by 15 minutes, in hopes of getting more television coverage.

Romney, who spoke without a teleprompter, argued that when judging the impact of Obama's policies, all Americans have to do is ask businesses around the country if they are better off than they were when the president took office.

"Go check on that," Romney instructed. "Go talk to small employers and big employers in your community. … Talk to the people you know."

Boy, that's really layin' into him, Myth!

Too late for Romney to learn to talk like a normal person I suppose.

J P Morgan Chase lost 2 billion of stockholders money. But they also had to pay out 1 billion in new Obama Regulations. I wish someone would showcase the cost to business of all the Obama/Dodd/Frank regulations. That is where a lot of money, which could be used to hire people, is going. Straight to Obama.

“Romney, who spoke without a teleprompter..”

Methinks Holly Bailey is not a big fan of the magic negro.

Obama’s ‘talk’ may be a lot of things, but “cheap” ain’t one of ‘em....

I must admit that Romney is winning me over day by day. Not really sure if it’s what he is doing and saying or just that Obama is more nauseating than ever?

“You Lie” was much more to the point.

Same here...

I was a strong Sarah supporter and then Newt - Mutt was at the bottom of my list.

But give him kudos for constantly attacking Obamugabe - totally unlike Juan McAmnesty in 2008.

We do need an attack dog who will fight for America and our Constitution!

Mitt Romney telling someone talk is cheap. Strange days. Looks like that ancient curse of “May you live in interesting times” finally caught up with me.

My business has grown every year for 9 years. This year it has seen a 50% decrease because all of the businesses who buy from me in the US are literally hanging by a thread. Without Canadian buyers I would have to lay off everyone. As it is I'm not taking any pay or vacations just making sure everyone is paid and praying that the Obama administration is not only defeated in November but annihilated worse then any other presidential candidate in history. Also his enablers in congress and Hollywood. These people must be bankrupted.

Romney is good at this, the guy can be cut throat. Should we be surprised at all? I mean, look what the (rumors) Romney camp did to his fellow Republicans during the primaries. They guy talks well, seems like a real nice guy, but I have no doubt that when he needs to, he can do the dirty deeds that need to be done to get elected. And I say that in a good way.

Good, apparently Team Romney has some people who know how to play the "media game".

Now let's see them challenge the Kenyan Usurper to have half the debates WITHOUT teleprompters!!
