“Newsroom” star Emily Mortimer: Americans are dangerously uninformed

...

I can remember when Bush got in for the second time, just feeling like so much of the problem about the way that politics go here is that people are improperly informed. That they didn’t know that they had been lied to, or they didn’t understand exactly to what extent they had been, and they still thought that there were weapons of mass destruction. And that was just crazy to me that people could be so under-informed. I do think that there’s a difference in America to where I’m from. There’s so much wrong with England, but I think people are informed in general. I’m going to make a huge sweeping statement, but you just get the news much more [in England]. Listening to radio stations that play pop music all day and all night, the news will come on every two hours, foreign news too. It’s part of your daily routine, being informed about what’s going on in the world. Whether you like it or not, you can’t really escape it. I don’t think the same is true here, and television broadcast news especially seems to me to be a pretty dicey area. You can’t rely on getting the facts, or getting them presented in a way that is actually objective and makes sense and puts people in a position where they can make informed decisions about who to vote for.

Um, we get it at the top and bottom of every hour.

So she isn’t happy that those same Americans voted for her hero, Obama?

Emily should stick to doing what she does best, taking off her clothes on film. Her brain is gravely atrophied.

Starts out with the tired old Bush is to blame BS. Not worth the 2 minutes it would take to read. Therefore not worth the $6.00 in nausea OTC meds required immediately after.

I felt the same way when da bro zee-rho was selected to be your president. And I have not been proven wrong. I just hope the crazy people stay home this time.

Don’t know who this person is, but regardless of what she does or who she works for, if she believe that a majority of Americans are uninformed, she’s right.

If she thinks it’s the TEA party folks that are uninformed, she’s wrong - big time.

Yeah... I don’t know who you are. I don’t care who you are. I don’t consider your opinions of any value. You pretend to be other people for a living, and you learn to say lines other people have written. That doesn’t make you smart, it just makes you a parrot.

It’s like this for these meat monkeys; the left votes the way it does because they are thoughtful and care about their fellow man. The right votes the way it does because they are mean and uninformed. The fact that leftist policies uniformly lead to pain, death and destruction just means the uninformed mean people are screwing things up for the thoughful caring leftists. You know, thoughtful caring people like Castro, and Kim Jeong Il or whoever is running the NoKo dump these days.

It’s always the fault of the realists, never the fault of the dreamers.

"You can’t rely on getting the facts, or getting them presented in a way that is actually objective and makes sense and puts people in a position where they can make informed decisions about who to vote for. "

Even a blind pig finds an acorn now and then. The response has been cable news and the Tea Party, not another Sorkin wordfest.

I guess she didn’t get the news that much of the information passed to the US about Iraq’s work on WMD came from England.

She's an actress, it's the latter.

people are improperly informed. That they didn’t know that they had been lied to,

Translation from "progressive speak":

"Improperly informed", "ignorant": They have not been exposed to the same propaganda that I was, or do not believe the propaganda.

"Lied to": They were given information which contradicts the propaganda that I believe in.

“Dr. Thorne” re: Emily Mortimer: Americans are dangerously misinformed if they think that actors are anything but laughably dim-witted ego-monsters without a shred of political insight.

Hey, Emily, liberals lie to us all the time. Because only conservatives will hold them accountable for their lies.
