Better get ready for your “Vegtable Purchase Mandate” and “Electric Car” mandate. Because according to the Supreme Court the Feds can force you to purchase anything they deem is good for you...

Per Scotusblog if they have it right: So the mandate is constitutional. Chief Justice Roberts joins the left of the Court.

As I understand it, reported on FoxNews, the word tax does not appear in this bill. How then do you support the individual mandate as a tax?

Bush should have chosen Janice Rogers Brown instead of Roberts.

It is a tax

And therefore Obama has passed the largest tax increase in history, breaking his many campaign pledges, not that it matters to him.

The Act is too large for this to be the only Constitutional challenge. Next up I predict a challenge to the Act's attempt to bind future a Congress.

We must take back the Senate while holding the House.

Mandate survives under the taxing power of the Federal governemnt—Roberts has joined with the four lefties to give them a 5-4 decision.

Roberts says the mandate is not a proper under the “Commerce Clause” or the “Necessary and Proper” clause, but OK under the taxing power—has nothing to do with fairness of what Congress enacts.

The Dred Scott decison of 2012.

Thus, the entire act is upheld as Constitutional.

If it’s a tax then you can’t challenge the constitutionality of a tax until you have actually been forced to pay the tax. When does the mandate actually come into effect as a tax?

“Our precedent demonstrates that Congress had the power to impose the exaction in Section 5000A under the taxing power, and that Section 5000A need not be read to do more than impose a tax. This is sufficient to sustain it. “

The Bush family has been the destruction of the Republican party. As much as Obama likes to blame Bush for everything, in a way, he’s got a point.

I used to kid my lefty friends when they’d bitch about George Bush: “I don’t know what you’re all complaining about, George Bush is the best Democrat the Republicans ever elected.”

...how true that was.

Would you not agree this is a strictly constitutional decision? In other words, Justice Roberts agreed that it’s outside the reach of the Commerce Clause but not outside Congress’s constitutionally-granted power to tax?

I think they will uphold it all.

And what will we do tomorrow, yeah post a few posts of disappointment.Same thing we did when the Obama monster passed the Dream Act Amnesty by itself without the approval of congress.

What can we do. Pat Buchanan is right , the U.S.A is committing suicide.

Few people realize that we have to dismantle 99% of these government agencies and the laws that authorize them, at all levels of government: abolish government schools, the EPA, IRS, FEC, HUD, TSA, OSHA, dept of energy, dept of education etc. keep only customs, tariffs, military, and border control ,police and courts, abolish everything else

Yes...as long as it has the fig leaf of "tax" on it. A tax to force everyone to buy the New York Times? A tax to force everyone to install tracking devices in cars?

Kennedy did the right thing, and Roberts didn't. How sad. Now we are left hoping Romney will kill it.
