ABC 'Nightline' anchor Terry Moran joined Top Line for a special edition dissecting the Supreme Court's decision on health care, a blockbuster ruling which upheld President Obama's signature piece of legislation. And the president and supporters of the law were not the only victors.
Chief Justice John "Roberts rode to the rescue of the Obama health care plan, and maybe rode to the rescue of the Supreme Court, as well," says Moran, who has been covering the Supreme Court for many years.
The justices have seen the esteem for the court diminish over these hyper partisan years. Since Bush v. Gore, polls show Americans feel less confident in the court. The court has no way to enforce its decisions except in the confidence of the people.
"The prestige of the court is the source of its authority," says Moran, "and justices can't be happy if [the court] is just another football in the political war."

I haven’t seen so many people contort themselves since the last time I played Twister, trying to justify Roberts’ horrible decision.
With the modern-day Senate Nomination Hearings (ie. Ask me no questions, I'll tell you no lies) the liberals have a major advantage. The liberal justices that you named have all been members of various socialist leaning groups all through their academic and legal careers. It shapes the way they think and so they are a reliable vote.
Conservative nominees may not belong to certain organizations determined to be too right-wing. So we are open to the Trojan Horse / Manchurian Candidate nominee. Even when the Republicans were in control of the WH & Senate we had to rely on the mercurial Senator from Pennsylvania, Arlen Spector, to shepherd our nominees. We know what kind of turncoat he turned out to be.

Roberts will need a ton of ibuprofen to relieve all the joint pain he inflicted on himself by twisting himself into the pretzel that he needed to be to come up with that decision, unless he’s into yoga.

Roberts didn't need to persuade any of the conservative justices to support him. First off, he (Roberts) got the outcome he wanted. Second, like in congress -- once you have the votes to pass your bill you start letting others 'out' so that they don't have to appear to have compromised their principles.
By all appearances he already has — and has shown it with this ruling. I realize there are some on our side who are busy trying to justify what he did, limitation of the Commerce Clause, etc... but he himself said he sees his job as trying to make legislation “work”. To me that smacks of judicial activism and is most certainly NOT his job. The court’s job is to rule whether legislation is in line with our Constitution AS WRITTEN, not re-write it so that it “works”. I have great compassion for those who believe he did something good yesterday, but no respect for Roberts because he did untold damage by telling the FEDS they can compel us to do whatever they want as long as they call it a “tax”. Truly VILE.
I would add that the SC appears to be treading water like everybody else until the November elections, hoping that Obama get shown the door. This is like drawing to an inside straight. I surely hope that we get that result, but the odds might be against us. I donnot expect the Democrats to “play fair” where elections are concerned.

The Supreme Court exists (supposedly) to interpret and uphold the law—Not to win popularity contests.
They have repeatedly abrogated their Constitutional duty/responsibility. As such, We the People should not feel bound by any of their opinions.
I hear you. Remember what they did to Bork among others? Every conservative has to walk through hot burning coals to get into the Supreme Court but liberals can just waltz in without barely any opposition from the Republicans. Democrats and Republicans have two different philosophies, and that has to stop. Democrats are thugs and street fighters while Republicans are Little Lord Fauntleroys who don’t want to get any dirt on their nicely pressed suits.
There is a reason why the Democrats have all kinds of *dirt* on conservative nominees going back to their college days, that has to be the conspiratorial network of the ACLU and other affiliated leftist groups. The ACLU is a long established nation-wide network that fanatically works together to promote their agenda. When a conservative is named, the ACLU network gets busy calling up anybody who knew him when. The ACLU has members throughout the country who get busy right away gathering information that they can distort to paint an ugly picture of the conservative nominee. We need to be fighters, we need to clear out all the Little Lord Fauntleroy Republicans and get some fighters.

Moran is a flipping retard. The prestige of the court is its integrity and honor as the final authority.
You don’t get to be a judge without someone having leverage on you. You don’t get to get promoted as a judge unless they have more and more of that.
Roberts has something in the closet that he dearly doesn’t want to be known.
The justices have seen the esteem for the court diminish.and they just screwed up even more.
The court have became useless and can never be trusted.
