Kids who bullied bus monitor suspended for a year, assigned to reform school

You need closure.

Following individual meetings this week with school and district administrators, each family waived their right to a hearing and agreed to one-year suspensions from school and regular bus transportation. The Greece Central School District is legally required to provide all students ages 5 to 16 with an education, therefore, during the 2012-13 school year, the students who have been suspended will be transferred to the district Reengagement Center, located in a non-school facility. This alternative education program keeps middle school students on track academically while providing a structured opportunity for students to take responsibility for their actions by completing community service hours and receiving formal instruction related to conduct and behavior that prepares them for a productive future. The program includes a strong parent involvement component.

Each student will be required to complete 50 hours of community service with senior citizens and will complete a formal program in bullying prevention, respect and responsibility. In accordance with district policy, if at 30 weeks into the school year the students have completed the conditions of their discipline and are in good standing at the Reengagement Center, they can apply for early readmission to Athena Middle School.

Too much, too little, or just enough? A year’s a stiff sentence for 10 or so minutes of verbal harassment, as nasty as it was, but the school district’s under immense pressure to be strict with the little cretins. And this incident’s playing out, of course, amid growing awareness culturally of how bad the effects of bullying can be. Crack down on this bunch and you send a national message given the spotlight on this case.

Because I know you’re wondering, the donations for Klein now stand north of $668,000. Per the Times, more than 30,000 people have contributed from all 50 states and 82 countries. Two days ago, she finally met the man who came up with the idea. Here’s the vid from WGRZ.

No elderly American should have to put up with that corrusive, evil behavior.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Neither should the kids have to hear it or witness the abuse.

On some level **all** the children on the bus know that this venom could at any moment be directed at them and their lives could be made a living hell. These kids are trapped. They are abandoned to this Lord of the Flies environment by their parents, the teachers, and the administrators.

Geeze! Why are children expected to put up with a hostile working environment that would win an adult millions in court? The really kicker is when adults tell them it is good for them.

They could have paid her $75,000 an hour and the problem would remain the same. Impossible conditions, set up by bureaucracy. Be upset with the rules that are endemic across the Ewe Essay pubskewl systems. Not with what she, as a patsy, found herself in.

You only display yourself more and more an ass (and an ass hole) by this broken record of yours.

No, it kills me that is this once great country of America, where for the last 45 years that government has rewarded incompetence via Social Welfare Programs and now even the citizens are willing to send $600,000.00 to a person simply because they are incompetent for their job.

Another sign that you are a liberal. You equate voluntary donations which nobody coerced with what the government exacts as taxes at gunpoint.

I hope she has a good accountant - if she's smart, she'll be able to avoid paying any taxes on any of it thanks to the gift tax exemption, since I doubt any one person gave her more than $13,000.

They were 7th grade kids and each and every day millions of parents, teachers, coaches, grandparents and bus monitors manage to keep control of 7th grade kids.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Have you spoken to a 7th grade government school inmate ( oops! student) recently?

My husband and I were scout leaders for 3 1/2 years. What the scouts report about their schools and the buses is shocking. Why their parents keep them in these cesspools of chaos and ignorance is a mystery to me.

Yes, problems exist throughout our public school system, but for not every school bus monitor is as incapable as this lady.

No, people are just conditioned to reward incompetence, but at least the people who donated cut out the federal middleman in their payments to someone so incapable.

Is that a first faint glimmer of light, or just the cherry on the end of your toke?

Viewing the situation holistically is an absolute imperative. Would the Incredible Hulk have been able to do any better there at that spot? There’s no evidence it would.

You haZ a “wrong” to go with your not happy still?

You should go get a “right” and a happy! Here, I have an overabundance of ‘right’ so you can haZ one of mine!

“This woman deserves every gift she got and was blameless in her actions.”

There! Now you haZ a ‘right’!

You have not proven your premise of incompetence, rather than that of being placed under rules that guarantee an ineffectual execution of the titular task. And the vast weight of evidence across the Ewe Essay is of the latter — which is a known effect of liberalism.

The problem is godlessness.

Precisely so. I saw an interview with some kids from the middle school the boys attended. One of them said that even though these boys deserved a stiff punishment, they were unlikely to learn anything from it. "That's just how kids are these days," he commented. He was right.
