UPDATE: A 20-year-old suspect who was shot Friday night while trying to hold up a Katy-area restaurant is expected to be charged with aggravated robbery, a spokesman for the Harris County Sheriffs Office said.
The suspect was taken to an area hospital in stable condition after being shot by the manager at Cicis Pizza, 3154 N. Fry Road, Deputy Thomas Gilliland said.
The 20-year-old, whose name was not immediately released, and another man entered the restaurants back door about 10:35 p.m. Friday as an employee was taking out trash at the end of the night, Gilliland said.
The would-be robbers ran to the front of the store and confronted the manager as he was getting ready to gather the nights receipts, Gilliland said. The manager reached down as though getting money but grabbed a weapon instead, firing twice at the 20-year-old.
The suspect threw down his gun and tried to flee but collapsed near the front door, Gilliland said. The other man escaped out the back door but the pickup truck the suspects arrived in was recovered at the scene, he said.
No charges had been filed Saturday afternoon. The shooting of the suspect is expected to be referred to a grand jury, Gilliland said.

Obviously out of towners, or thick between the ears. You’d have to be in order to even think of pulling a heist in, of all places, Texas.
“The shooting of the suspect is expected to be referred to a grand jury, Gilliland said.”
Completing the sentence... in order for the grand jury to have a good laugh at the stupid robber.
I live in rural east Texas and you people would be shocked to know how often homeowners & merchants shoot suspects. This will be “no billed” in the grand jury like all the rest.
The manager needs more time on the practice range.
Sounds like the management of CiCi's learned from that experience, unlike Walgreens and so many other companies.

I live in semi-rural (I’m rural but surrounded by city folk Central Texas and must plead guilty.
