Former Air America Radio Host Rants 'I Hate This G**-damned Country!'
NewsBusters.org ^ | July 5, 2012 | Jack Coleman

What is it about leftists and their hate-hate affair with America?

RadioOrNot.com host Nicole Sandler, formerly of the justifiably defunct Air America Radio, has upped the ante on libtalker Bill Press, who vented about his visceral loathing for the national anthem, and chirpy MSNBC weekend host Chris Hayes, who sniffed in disdain at the notion of fallen soldiers as "heroes." (Audio clip after page break).

Libtalker: I HATE This G-D Country!

Heck, Sandler hates the nation as a whole, not just its venerated secular hymn and most selfless warriors.

Here is Sander filling in for liberal soulmate Randi Rhodes on Tuesday, the eve of Independence Day, and elaborating on her hatred for the good ol' US of A --

I've made no secret of the fact that since Air America went off the air I've been struggling. You know, that was my last steady paycheck. January, well it was before then, Jan. 21st 2010 was when Air America went off the air and at that time they owed me about, you know, a month's worth of pay. So, it was about a month before that that I got my last steady paycheck. (This while Air America was paying former host Rachel Maddow for nothing more than to rebroadcast her MSNBC show).

.... And although I do all these odd jobs and thank God for Randi and the fill-in work I get here, it's tough to make ends meet. And I told you that I pay through the, yeah, for health insurance, about $1,200 a month with a two hundred, a two thousand dollar deductible before the insurance company even kicks in a dime. So that stretches me to my limits, if you know what I mean. And I had something I needed to go to the doctor, but honestly I put it off because I still had to meet the deductible. And in a bit of a crying fit, I screamed out I hate this G**-damned country! How can I live in a place that let's people go broke because they get sick?! How is health care not a basic human right? Well, you know what? Last week we took a step towards making this country a better place. Burt we still got a long way to go, a long way to go.

Last I checked, conservatives aren't whining about how much they hate America because of that gosh-darn Supreme Court decision on Obamacare.

At risk of stating the obvious, it might be time for Sandler to consider another line of work.

its sad that leftist don’t understand, free health care means very expensive health care for the country and country will go broke every time people become sick.

Priced sensitive health care patient means cheaper health care, thus noone will go broke

I’ve alway ask a socialist why everything government run always get more and more expensive like education/health and why computers/electronics become cheaper

That’s what so-called “liberals” always do.
They take their over-educated over-borrowed @$$es over to some primitive/communist 3rd-world crap-hole and start railing against big old bad old America.
Then they get arrested/abducted
The stupid idiot ‘hikers’ that got arrested by Iran a couple/3 years ago come to mind.
Then they start whining to the diplomats and embassies that they hadn’t realized they were in over their soon-to-be-lopped-off-heads.

Liberals are an endless source of amusement and schadenfreude.

"The greedy insurance companies and those in the medical field brought all this on themselves."

Medical care is expensive and more expensive here but also the best available anywhere in the world. A large part of the cost is the insurance necessary to protect Dr's and Hospitals from damages related to malpractice lawsuits.

Sensible reform I this area can result in a reduction in overall costs for health care of 30% or more.

As usual the wrong question is being asked at the same time people are not on the same level of communication.

You ask . . . Do you know how much 3 days in the hospital cost?"

Real question is . . . WHY does it cost so much?

I see later you say it the greedy insurance company and the practitioners.

that's a partial truth, which is sometimes greater than a lie. Because its misleading and not wholly truthful.

The same people that claim to have solutions are the same assholes who got us the high hospital costs. Regulations and all the "feel good" and "feel guilty" crowd with all their nonsensical solutions.

If you think 3 days in the hospital cost alot now, wait till 2020 when ObamantionCare is fully implemented.

Then and onlt then what some of these folks on this thread are trying to say will make sense

This is a great satirical call for Bloomberg to go further, banning beer and more: ....

That would be a godsend, if someone of swollen ego like Bloomberg would try to ban something as popular as beer, on ideological grounds.

The Spanish Empire was lost, because of a royal attempt to double the royal-monopoly price of aguardiente, the popular high-proof potato liqueur still drunk in northern South America today. The ensuing revolt eventually became the Bolivarian revolution.

Cuba is 39th by UN rankings.

Do they base that rating on the clean modern hospitals that are restricted to party members and cash-paying tourists, or the ancient, filthy, vermin-infested dumps that the Cuban proles are forced to use?

“Some doctors will offer “cash discounts” for services if insurance claims are not made.”

True, but physician fees are a relatively small part of a hospital bill. If you were hospitalized for something serious, even if all physicians worked for free there would still be a huge hospital bill.

That's why people need catastrophic health insurance - which can be a lot less expensive than the type of ‘all bells and whistles’ plan that the government wants to make you pay for. Medical Savings Accounts are a great idea for paying for doctor visits etc., and could be combined quite easily with catastrophic insurance.

Regarding why hospital costs are so high, it's multi-factorial. 24hr. availability of services is one of those factors. Consider the costs involved for a car accident at 2am in which the driver hits his chest on the steering wheel and the passenger hits their head on the windshield. They will be brought, probably by ambulance, to an emergency dept. that has a trauma team (or at least trauma experience). The passenger who hit their head will get a CT scan to rule out a bleed, will probably have had a neck collar placed at the scene and will have X-rays to rule out a cervical fracture, and will have admission to at least a floor in which they will get frequent neurological checks. All of that involves the availability, at 2am, of lots of people and equipment (e.g. CT scanner, radiology techs, nursing, laboratory services etc.).

That's if nothing is wrong. If there is an intracranial bleed then an operating room, OR nurses and technicians, post-op intensive care etc. will all be needed. Similar expenses will be involved with the driver who hit their chest on the steering wheel, although of course the approach and tests will be different. All of this for just one car accident.

The bottom line is that it is expensive to provide hospital services, and the availability has to be paid for, even if they aren't used. In my view, one of the best ways to deal with this is to have fewer hospitals, and to have speciality hospitals, such that there is less need for duplication of services within a given catchment area. In addition, if I were looking where to cut medical costs in general, I would be looking at how to decrease hospital administrative cost and how to avoid the creation of extended bureaucracies within hospital systems. People who don't have something to do directly with patient care should be kept at a minimum.

Finally, I would not allow physicians to be employed by hospitals or hospital systems. It would be fine if physicians are involved in ownership or administration, but I don't think it's a good idea to have hospital-employed physicians. This centralizes power too much in hospitals and their administrators, and diminishes the physicians ability to act as patient advocate. Further, it establishes a system in which hospitals reward physicians for the amount of money they bring into the system and not for their quality of care. Physicians should be judged by their patients and their outcomes, not by bean counters looking to bring more dollars into the system.

Long rant. Sorry.

“the availability has to be paid for”

The Canadian health care system depends on the excess capacity of the US system to take care of their overflow. You can make a very good argument that the biggest loser if we went to a Canadian style system would be Canada.

“The Canadian health care system depends on the excess capacity of the US system to take care of their overflow. You can make a very good argument that the biggest loser if we went to a Canadian style system would be Canada.”

There is no question about this, and the issue goes deeper than overflow. Canada negotiates (you could argue - extorts) lower prices on drugs from American pharmaceutical companies - who then pass on these costs/losses of profit to the American consumer.

When the arrogant idiots in Washington address medicine and health care, they do it with limited knowledge and a limited scope of considerations. If you were a CEO looking at the US as a company that you just took over, and asked ‘what do we do well?’, you would include in that answer health care, pharma, biotech, medical device development, etc. These are an extended part of our overall economy, and probably everyone on this board who has a 401K or other general investment strategy has some exposure to these parts of the economy. Why would you trash this? Why not build on it, and consider medical technology/pharma, and even medical expertise as exportable commodities, rather than successes that need to be punished?

The claim to expertise for many in government is that they went to law school. Big deal. I went to medical school. That doesn't make me an expert in engineering, or in plumbing etc. The point being that we have a bunch of law school graduates - who by definition have had their training limited to 3 years of learning about general law - using their status as elected officials to alter huge swaths of American society - involving things they know very little about. As society has become more complex, and technology and knowledge significantly more advanced, we have concentrated power in fewer and fewer people. This is just stupid. The system is not working.

the world's largest fleet of trucks...all shipping mass quantities of sugar to our doorsteps

Hey, am I missing something? Home delivery!? I still have to do it the old-fashioned way of going to the store.

On another point, I wonder what country that Sandler person would prefer living in. Maybe she should do a show on rating all the countries by listing their good and bad points. Then, when the series is over, she moves her fat butt to the winner.
