U.N. Agreement Should Have All Gun Owners Up In Arms
Forbes ^ | 6/07/2011

It may not come as surprising news to many of you that the United Nations doesn’t approve of our Second Amendment. Not one bit. And they very much hope to do something about it with help from some powerful American friends. Under the guise of a proposed global “Small Arms Treaty” premised to fight “terrorism”, “insurgency” and “international crime syndicates” you can be quite certain that an even more insidious threat is being targeted – our Constitutional right for law-abiding citizens to own and bear arms.

What, exactly, does the intended agreement entail?

2 of 3? Not for this one. There will be high and visible attendance for this vote.

Maybe I give them too much credit? :)

The Constitution requires only a majority of “those present” to ratify a treaty

Really? Where does it say that?

Sorry, as pointed out by Carry_Okie in #40 above, it's 2/3 of Senators present. My apologies.

They better be careful what they wish for.

I would have qualms about shooting an American Policeman or Soldier, but a Blue helmet who has no business being here anyway? Of course they would probably have Americans wearing the blue helmets. We have carried the fighting load for the UN since it’s inception.

This commie crap isn’t going anywhere. The Marxist jackwagons are using the opportunity to mock the Constitution and taunt its Citizens.

Put it to a vote and let the scum expose themselves.

Contacted my 2 senators to vote against this treaty. Both are gun control freak Dem's.

The following is the comment I got back from one senator..(an really bullshit response designed to say she is voting for it, but for good reasons (that are not well thought out)..

“Thank you for contacting me regarding the UN Arms Trade Treaty. I appreciate hearing from you on this matter.

In 2006 the United Nations General Assembly requested that the Secretary-General of the UN establish a group of governmental experts to draft parameters binding nations to common international standards with respect to import, export, and transfer of conventional arms. Between 2009 and 2012, the UN will hold Open Ended Work Group Meetings and Preparatory Committee Meetings in order to draft a treaty to be voted on at the 2012 UN Conference.

In October of 2009 Secretary of State Hillary Clinton stated that “the US is committed to actively pursuing a strong and robust treaty that contains the highest possible, legally-binding standards for the international transfer of conventional weapons.” By limiting the use and exchange of small arms, state's can reduce the amount of irresponsible arms transfers to terrorist and radical organizations. This can ultimately help achieve a common goal by all nations - protecting their citizens while protecting their national sovereignty. While the UN Arms Trade Treaty has not come to a vote on the Senate floor, I assure you that your concern will be considered in my decision making process.

Thank you again for contacting me to share your thoughts on this matter. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future if I can be of further assistance.

Sincerely,
Maria Cantwell
United States Senator”

And yet, gun owners aren’t up in arms.

Go your taxes - your government is broke. :)

LEOs are getting a reputation for shooting peoples’ dogs while togged out in SWAT gear.

Inaccurate?

The only “rule” that could keep this from being shoved down our throats is that 51 Senators must be present to form a quorum. However, the Dems do have 51 to form that quorum anytime they need it. The Constitution requires 51 to make for a quorum and Senate rules do, too, but who is say they wouldn’t simply hold a vote and say, “So, what?”, to such rules.

Lyrics from the song Dystopia by American metal band Iced Earth:

Enter the nightmare, this future does implore,
A techno city state, a prison nothing more.
Rounded up like cattle, you’re forced in to the trains,
Nothing that you’ve ever known will bring you so much pain.

If you try to resist me you’ll find me inhumane,
But if you just submit you’ll live your life a slave.
You’ll love your servitude, we’ll medicate your pain,
With our technology, we’ll always keep you safe.

Micro-chipped like dogs, their thoughts are not their own,
All that’s left of human kind is now in their control.
Planned out through centuries, patient and contrived,
Played on man’s naivety, gullible and blind.

If you try to resist me you’ll find me inhumane,
But if you just submit you’ll live your life a slave.
You’ll love your servitude, we’ll medicate your pain,
With our technology, we’ll always keep you safe.

[Chorus]

The nightmare unfolds before my eyes
I will resist ‘til the end of time
A spirit born free has to break these chains
We’re lost, we must find our way.
We must find our way.
We’ll find our way.

They say that you’re a danger to everything that’s pure,
There are too many of you, they’re offering the cure.
Swift extermination if you refuse the game,
Arrested development, your vaccinated fate.

If you try to resist me you’ll find me inhumane,
But if you just submit you’ll live your life a slave.
Your love, your servitude will medicate your pain,
With our technology, we’ll always keep you safe.

[Chorus] x2
The nightmare unfolds before my eyes,
I will resist ‘til the end of time.
A spirit born free has to break these chains,
We’re lost, we must find our way.

We must find our way,
We’ll find our way.

“I’m old enough so dying fighting wouldn’t have that much of a negative impact on me.”

Scary numbers of us feel exactly the same way, FRiend.

Admiral Yamamoto was right. WE are behind every blade of grass.

"Have you forgotten the lessons of Waco and Ruby Ridge?"

Those were isolated actions with massive overkill from multiple agencies surrounding their targets. Now imagine just the opposite. Thousands of Waco's in every county in every state. There is not enough LEO and or military to deal with the American public. When they made most SKS rifles illegal in California hundreds of thousands if not several million of these outlawed rifles were never turned in, converted, registered, sold out of state,etc... those people still own them. Now does anyone honestly think that the Federal Government is going to outlaw semi automatic rifles and even if they did would even 10% of the population turn them in before the Supreme Court put a stop to it. If the SCOTUS backed the Federal Governments ban who is going to enforce it? If they even attempted to confiscate guns most people and or states would organize to stop it and than the SHTF.

I have family that are lawyers, including a Deputy District Attorney, deputy Sheriff, retired LEO, active military, and many other people who laugh at such nonsense and idiotic contemplations by people who actually think anyone in this nation would ever give up their arms. Most people in authority would ignore any orders to take weapons from the public on a massive scale. If the Government could muster enough people to take weapons no real Americans are going to give them up. Only illegals, people not born here, or neutered crybabies would obey such nonsense, but real Americans who are truly American would pull the trigger. Millions of us shot each other in the first civil war. These people in the mainstream media,Washington D.C. are nieve fools who do not know the majority of Americans and what we really think and what we are capable of.

Such UN actions and laws are really meant to go after the manufacturers and not the individual.

Have you forgotten the lessons of Waco and Ruby Ridge?

Bingo. If anything Waco and Ruby Ridge should have taught us that the government agents will not hesitate in employing deadly force if authorized/encouraged.

Moreover, combined with the rash of "single incidents" of lethal and/or 'mistaken' no-knock raids, I think it safe to say that such force is, in aggregate, being encouraged.

count me in, I would rather go out in a blaze of glory than live as a slave to the elite class of weakling idiots that have infiltrated our government

but the only way to win would be if the military or a significant number of military joined in and enforced their sworn oath to protect and defend the constitution

any clever plan would have to include a subversive plot to procure major military firepower to decimate the cancer within, swiftly. precisely with overwealming power and a rapid replacement original constitution governing body

scattered and underwealming small arms would end in protracted and painful futility

Anybody notice that the bulk of US Army and Marine Corps infantry have been tied up in the Middle East since George H.W. "New World Order" Bush came into office?

That our heavy divisions once stationed in Germany have been disbanded or moved, and are a shadow of what they were when "Poppy" came to office in 1989?

Anyone here reflected on the fact that CONUS is very depleted of US troops?

90% will give up their guns readily. The others will simply have their bank accounts emptied if they have registered guns and don’t comply. The hold-outs will be attacked with swat teams and they and their families will be exterminated.
