The plight of Lennox, a seven-year-old dog described as an American bulldog and Labrador cross, has captured the hearts of animal lovers and activists across the world after he was seized two years ago.

But after a court order reprieve period expired at midnight last night, Lennox was put down.

They would not allow Lennox to go to the U.S. as an alternative to killing him. Would not allow his owners to say goodbye to him or be with him and comfort him as they killed him. Would not even allow them to take his body home with them.

This dog never did anything to anybody. He was put down just because he was part American Staffordshire Terrier — but he was also part Labrador. Unfortunately, the Belfast council could not see through their own rules to spare this dog.

Victoria Stilwell even offered to bear the cost of re-homing him in the USA, to no avail.

When things like this happen, you can be sure that the leftists are in charge. Pigs.

That dog was killed with extreme cruelty, not only to the dog, but also to the owners.

This is designed to dishearten people and make them feel hopeless in the face of government stupidity and mindless regulations unevenly applied.

It is a scourge on our planet, and should be cleansed from our lives.

This is what BSL legislation is all about: storm troopers having the right to invade your home and kill your dog because of the way it looks or because of a so-called “expert’s” opinion on the breed or type of dog he/she is - and God forbid the poor animal act frightened while languishing in a prison for 2 years away from his/her home! Death is all these people want — and sadly there are some so-called “animal welfare” organizations in this country which operate the same way (ASPCA, PETA to name but two). Greater accountability is needed and laws forcing organizations to allow reputable rescues and charities to take the animals they aren’t willing to work with. Same should apply in cases like this. There were options for this poor boy and many qualified people offered to re-home him, thus saving his life. Nope. The council wanted him dead. Vile. I hope they experience a backlash like they’ve never imagined possible.

All freedom-loving people need to oppose BSL whenever it rears its ugly head in their communities. It doesn’t matter HOW it’s worded, this type of horror is the end result.

Praying they experience a backlash like they’ve never imagined possible. Laws like these should always favor life over death. When they don’t the laws need to be changed — or better yet, ditched altogether.

I have a 3 yr old Pit Bull Terrier.

I dare some libtard to try and take my dog.

I’m not a lifetime member of the NRA for kicks and giggles...

I have two wonderful, friendly, large dogs who could easily be impacted by BLS legislation and I think i’s abominable. The older, at 6.5 yr., weighs 85 lb. and is half Black lab and half Pit. There’s never been a more wonderful, funny, loving dog. The other is a 1 yr., 4 mo. old Great Dane, also a breed that’s sometimes condemned, even though they’re some of the most lovable, friendly dogs in the world.

I understand and sympathize. One of our dogs is a Chow mix, although we could probably disguise that fact a little — esp. if he doesn’t open his mouth and no one sees his tongue, lol! I remain vigilant and wary every time I see or hear of some ridiculous politician pandering with nonsensical BSL legislation to recent reports of dog attacks and those with irrational fears.

In the past year or so another part of our state proposed one of the worst pieces of BSL nonsense I’ve seen in some time and the list of dogs on it was virtually every medium to large sized dog breed (something like 50 breeds were listed!) The only thing left were lap-sized dogs (ironically sometimes the worst biters!) Don’t think it passed.

Anybody who knows Danes knows they’re huge, loving, slobbery, silly beasts. Nevertheless, they, along with Newfoundlands, St. Bernards, and other very large breeds are often placed on BSL bans jus because of their size. BSL legislation, along with gun control, is just another form of evil socialism.

Don’t forget other forms of breed discrimination such as housing and insurance. We were turned down for an umbrella poicy because one of our dogs is an akita.

It’s all part of the same apple as far as I’m concerned. Any law that allows discrimination based on breed, or perceived breed or size should not be permitted and should be fought against every way possible. Once these evil micro-management tactics get a foot-hold they tend to bring in other types of nasty legislation. All part of the same idea and for the same reasons: power and a burning desire to micromanage the lives of others.... Hmmmm... Sounds familiar for some reason.

I’m sorry you had this happen to you, but not surprised. Dog lovers need to push for legislation making this kind of discrimination illegal. (I think I read somewhere that such legislation has been introduced, at least in some states.) (Sometimes, contrary to what many conservatives think, legislation can be a good thing - esp. when used to protect the truly innocent.) What an inhumane choice: get the protection you need or give up your family member! Truly evil.

I wonder what the actuarial tables say about Akitas. Do you think it is really discrimination or smart business?

Welcome to our future.

As long as good men stand back and refuse to stop the madness, the future that already exists in some countries, will be the world we live in one day.

That’s just outright cruel.

The whole thing was cruel and all about control. Typical statist evil tactics. May they reap ten-fold what they have sown and may it come back on them in greater measure.
