I usually try to start off with a default state of mind regarding these things, and I feel sympathy for parents and relatives of the suspect.
If it comes out that the parents or family are radicals who imparted those values and steered a son or daughter down that path, then I will reconsider at that time.
Right now, I would assume the poor woman is in shock.
Um, if you click on that guy’s name on YouTube, it says he is 34. But of course, it could be intentionally incorrect information as I usually put incorrect city and birthdate whenever I join a website, just for personal protection.
That said, it is just as accurate to jump to this conclusion as it was for that pr!ck at abcnews to announce that he was possibly a Tea Party member simply because someone with the same name appeared on the tea party roll for Aurora, Co.

A San Diego woman identifying herself as James Holmes's mother spoke briefly with ABC News this morning.
She had awoken unaware of the news of the shooting and had not been contacted by authorities. She immediately expressed concern that her son may have been involved.
"You have the right person," she said.
"I need to call the police," she added. "I need to fly out to Colorado."
If he was a radical Occupy terrorist, his mom knew what he was capable of doing.

The man who shot twelve people dead at a Dark Night screening was a student who had dropped out of his neuroscience PhD, it has been revealed.
James Holmes, 24, had been studying at the University of Colorado’s medical campus in until June this year.
Several others have said there were children at the screening and the youngest victim reported was a three-month-old baby. A six-year-old is also being treated.
Local reporter Justin Jones said: ‘The attacker shot a baby at point blank range.’
Another eyewitness, James Cameron, added that the baby girl was shot in the back.
More likely a confused latent, or a heterosexual who was having trouble getting laid. Someone who has a longstanding history of social problems and blames those problems on society, which gives him (in his own warped mind) an excuse for taking revenge. Or, he could be simply whacked.

I don't see that at all. Who knows, but in his HS photo, I see an intense anxiety, a desire to fit in, but a severe lack of confidence holding him back. He's reasonably handsome, he should be popular, but the tension is his smile and the uncertainty in his eyes, bespeaks a real crisis in self image and lack of self assurance. In his later photograph, I see a grown man who still has not come to grips with his failure to fit in, only now his anxiety is turning outward and he's going to take it out on others, not himself. If he were gay, at least he'd fit in somewhere. That's my take on it anyway.
