A 10-year-old Granite City boy died Saturday in what Jefferson County authorities believe was a “tragic accident.”

Christian G. Clark died when a round accidentally discharged from a gun and struck him, Jefferson County Sheriff Roger Mulch said in a news release.

Preliminary investigation revealed Clark and his 7-year-old sister were in their grandfather’s recreational vehicle when his sister picked up a long gun, Mulch said.

The gun accidentally discharged, striking Christian Clark with a round.

A 911 call at 3:30 p.m. alerted authorities to the shooting in the recreational vehicle, which was parked in a wooded area near a residence on Baseline Road in Dix, Mulch said.

Deputies found Clark’s body in the vehicle, which is owned by the children’s grandfather Jason G. Clark Sr. and is used as a hunting cabin.

Does every story in here, no matter how tragic, need to be turned into a political highjacking?

Sorry, but our Knucklehead in Chief actually gave a speech yesterday about the Colorado victims and suggested that we Americans need to change our ways. Since I had not killed any of those people, nor had any of my family killed any of those people, nor had any other of the 300+ million law abiding Americans killed any of those people, I thought that our Idiot in Chief needed a little criticism.

This is a political site.

The hijacking occurs when somebody posts a non-political story.

Several years ago near where I live, a man and his 5 year old g/son were in a pick up, grand son in back seat, a loaded .22 rifle also. Kid picks up the gun and fires into the back of his grand father’s head. Grandpa died of stupidity.

There is an excellent film that deals with an accidental shooting death such as this, and how it affects all involved: The Stone Boy.

The film has nothing to do with politics, just the human side of tragedy.

Prayers for the grieving family.
