Bloomberg Suggests Police Stop Protecting People Until Gun Control Enacted

Appearing as a guest on Monday's Piers Morgan Tonight, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg recommended that America's police officers should go on strike and refuse to protect people until gun control legislation which would allegedly make them safer is enacted. Bloomberg:

(Video can be found here.)

Well, I would take it one step further. I don't understand why the police officers across this country don't stand up collectively and say we're gonna go on strike, we're not gonna protect you unless you, the public, through your legislature, do what's required to keep us safe.

24 hours after he did he would be begging for the National Guard to come in and restore order.

From a safe location well outside of NYC, with his own "armed" security surrounding him.

Go ahead Mike, put the NYPD on a 30-day furlough.

Yup. And no matter what happens he can’t call them back until the end of the 30 days. And he can’t call for help from the Natl. Guard. I wonder what NYC would look like after the 30 days were up.

Wasn’t Guliani term limited out?

Funny how Bloomberg fixed that.

The DHS should arrest Bloomberg for inciting domestic terrorism.

Those are Chinese army uniforms, not North Korean.

Police do not “protect” people, in our rural area it takes Sheriff’s deputies 45 minutes to respond to a 911 call. jThat’s why we are armed.

"stop protecting" ???

seems to me that the body count in the theatre was already unprotected...

let em strike, just think of how much cash we could save on their bloated, donut munchin asses if we werent payin em to begin with...

altho, 'revenue' would decrease w/o all the 'highway traffic safety' fines taxes being generated by air conditioned late model cruisers...

More evidence that liberalism is a mental disease.

RE :”let em strike, just think of how much cash we could save on their bloated, donut munchin asses if we werent payin em to begin with...

You are VERY disrespectful to ‘our finest’ LOL

It reminds me of the time I went to the grocery store and a women asked me to sign a petition to allow our county police to unionize. I responded :”Are you... kidding? They are taxing the crap out of me now”

One of my older relatives lives here retired with his wife on a fixed budget and is trying to figure out where he will get the $5K to pay his this years property tax bill.

In some places, that would be an improvement.

Bloomberg is a Stalinist wannabee.

Great, Then when they come off the strike they can arrest everyone for defending themselves in the cities where it is a felony to do so...where guns are legal to use we will see....fine with me. LA, Chicago, DC and NYC will be toast as they already have the highest rates of murder...

Bloomberg is a Dem, Dems are the left Side of the IQ bell curve.

Bloomberg is a prime example of the foolishness of letting Leftists have the vote, or be allowed out without a leash...

This doesn't make any sense. The police protect you? Not if they can avoid it.

When the issue went to the Supreme Court, it ruled that the police have no responsibility for protecting anybody.

They're basically the cleanup crew.

How can they stop doing something they never do anyway?

” One of my older relatives lives here retired with his wife on a fixed budget and is trying to figure out where he will get the $5K to pay his this years property tax bill. “

Many are having to do reverse mortgages, just to stay in their homes. New Jersey is really bad. I would NEVER own a home there. A middle class (no more than middle class home)
has 10-14000 yearly property tax bill.

” Third: - and this is the key point here - Bloomberg is a fascist POS, and the day HE (and every other liberal piece of garbage) gives up his armed personal protection, then I will. Until that day, dear Mayor Bloomberg, GFYself.”

With a net worth of some 20 billion, Bloomie probably has some 6-10 armed body guards floating around. Hypocrisy anyone ?

All Good Little Fascists have armed bodyguards.

As long as they have weapons, so will I. It’s not open to negotiation, nor compromise.

If he's overcome his statist nature enough to really mean that, i.e. no prosecutions of people who defend themselves and taxes reduced by the amount of the police budget, then sure, let's go for that. Municipal police forces are a relatively recent (a century or so) occurrence, and one not entirely compatible with individual freedom. That's why I think he's bluffing. If it's good for freedom, Bloomberg can't possibly be for it, or even allow it for long.
