It’s on DVD.

I think it is available to stream on Netflix.

you must mean Atlas 1 not Atlas 2. How can something that is not finished yet be on DVD? You may be able to pre order it but not buy it yet.

So yes, I was referring to AS I.

I hope it is not a big let down. The first one was good and the stars fit their parts well but I read that most of the original stars are gone and a whole batch of new actors will be playing the parts.

I hope it is not a big let down. The first one was good and the stars fit their parts well but I read that most of the original stars are gone and a whole batch of new actors will be playing the parts.

I was on the set for the Rearden Trial and Francisco's money speech. A good friend of mine is involved in the production. I was there for the final night of shooting as well as playing an extra in a few scenes over the course of shooting, giving me a good sense of how the movie will look. If you like the novel you will not be disappointed. The Atlas Society is involved in every scene interpretation. It really feels like Rand's predictions of how dependency plays out is so on the mark. The acting was good in the first movie but the production company had an opportunity to get better actors for Part 2. I found Esai Morales far more believable as Francisco than the Part 1 actor. The monologues I heard on set gave me chills. Here I am on set with Jonathan Hoenig who is one of the many high profile conservatives used as featured extras.

Trivia question....

What is the common connection between these three films..?:

1. Atlas Shrugged

2. Brazil

3. Blade Runner.

And why is this imaginary....?

I hope the director of photography has a steadier hand than your photographer.

IMDB pages for Part 1 and Part 2 so everyone can easily get lists of actors.

Just put “II,” as it is called, into my Netflix saved queue.

What a shame they used all new actors. Now I’ll have to build a translation table in my head :)

Atlas Shrugged devotees were not happy with casting an older overweight guy as Ellis Wyatt, who Rand describes in the book as a tall, fit, and handsome. All of the Rand protagonists are physically fit and attractive. That said, after watching the first Atlas Shrugged movie a couple of times I became very fond of Graham Beckel's portrayal of Wyatt.

Sorry about the poor quality of the picture. It was taken in a hurry on a cell phone in a very busy workplace and I would never ask for a do over. Jonathan Hoenig is a very good sport and a classy guy. Grover Norquist plays a bum in the movie. Lots of well known conservatives were on the set.

Thanks for the tip! I found and watched the ATLAS SHRUGGED Part One on NETFLIX this evening.

It is very very good! Those who haven’t watched it yet need to do so. NETFLIX is offering a free first month for those who haven’t tried it. No obligation. Just Google Netflix.

Cheers, Sen Jack

I thought the woman playing Taggart and the man playing Reardon did okay, but I didn't like Wyatt's casting. Over the years, as I have seen one actor or another, some just bring to mind my visualization of the characters in Atlas Shrugged":

DISCLAIMER: I know that some of these people are too old, or are not conservatives, etc, but as it said, it was one point in time...

Dagny Taggart:

Hank Reardon:

Francisco d'Anconia :

Ellis Wyatt :

Jim Taggart :

Ragnar Danneskjöld :

Eddie Willers :

Here I am at the Saturn Awards last Thursday with Atlas Shrugged Screen Writers Duncan Scott on my left and Brian O'Toole on my right. I got to hold the Saturn, maybe because I was the only girl in the picture. The young men in the picture won a contest to be at the Awards Banquet. I'm feeling very good about Part 2, especially because of the larger production budget and the new actors. Plus Part 2 has more of a clear story line than part 1. It was really fun talking to the guys who adapted the book, discussing the many challenges of bringing Atlas Shrugged to the silver screen.
