Rahm Emanuel Pledges To Ban Chick-Fil-A From Chicago
Breitbart ^

Posted on 07/26/2012 4:52:22 AM PDT by chessplayer

The unemployment rate in the city of Chicago is approximately 9.8 percent, well above the national average. Since Monday night, one 17-year-old boy has been shot and 13 others have been wounded in shootings across the city. And that’s just the most recent wave of shootings to plague the city – dozens more have been shot over the last few weeks.

And Mayor Rahm Emanuel is taking action: he’s banning Chick-Fil-A.

When I lived in a Chicago suburb you needed a permit to replace your curtains! No, I am not kidding. Bureaucrats are the danger behind a government that is too big, not just the politicians.

This is a First Amendment violation. CFA should sue every authority that denies a permit to build because of the ceo’s views on traditional marriage. Notice that CFA is not denying gay people from entering their premises and eating CFA.

These politicians have presented us with the sobering fact that we have truly entered the Age of Obama...2013 can’t come soon enough.

And then we have the ballerina welcoming Farrakhan...

Yeah, what gives with that? Farrakhan is fiercely anti-gay, but he’s welcomed to Chicago with open arms. The CFA owner says he supports traditional marriage, and his businesses have to be run out of town.

Of course they’ll try the old zoning trick, but if CFA can prove that those objections lack substance, they can establish discrimination in issuance of zoning permits and consequently, violation of fair trade, equal protection, and civil rights laws. Mr. Emanuel would then find himself in the same position as Bull Connor or Lester Maddox 40 years ago. And the City of Chicago would find itself millions of dollars poorer, while CFA discovers a deep pool of expansion capital.

You miss the point. The regs are written in such a way that you can be held in violation of something no matter how hard you try. Regs involve interpretation and your interpretation will be wrong if they decide it’s wrong.

To prove that they falsely found you in the wrong because of your views on X or Y is next to impossible.

Granted, in this case, because Rahm-shiite publicly attacked Chick-fil-A, it puts greater scrutiny on any bureaucratic harrassment. But they’ve written the codes and regs in such a way that there’s almost always some way they can “get you,” smiling all the time in smug “innocence.”

It’s the same way with the IRS. If they want to get you, the pieces are in place to get you.

Yes, to some degree you can fight it. But the very existence of the tenticles of regulation means that you’ll think twice or three million times before taking them on. Most people just jump through the hoops, pay the fee (protection money) and try to avoid standing out.

It’s tyranny. How do you get the Supreme Court to outlaw bureaucratic harrassment? By definition it’s a matter of subjective interpretation of laws.

The answer has to be legislative: dismantling the whole big government tyranny.

But whether that’s possible any more, I doubt. Too many people depend on sucking the bureaucratic teat.

Read post 55. All emmanuel has to do is make sure they “fail” every health inspection.

Won’t work. Holder’s DOJ will sue the living daylights out of any major or city council or state legislature that tried this. Almost no town in the country is devoid of at least a few gay activists, or if the town is devoid of them, outsiders would immediately take up the cause.

And the conservative officials who tried this would lose. And nothing would be done about Menino or Emmanuel and those like them. They’d get away with it and those trying a mirror approach would be crushed.

The deck is stacked, largely because the big corporations went gay-friendly 10 years ago (for the money in the gay market) and the general population more or less crossed the line to “well, I guess gays are just normal folks like us, except a tad different, but they’re nice guys and we don’t like meanies who take out after them”

in other words, the gay campaign for being treated as a civil rights issue, protected class etc. has basically crossed the tipping point to where it is supported by the great middle of the population.

Perhaps this can still be reversed, but it will have to be a cultural reversal, not a point-of-law reversal. We’ve lost that battle until such time as the populace truly shifts against the gay activists. And I’m not sanguine about that happening.

If I remember correctly, Rahm was a known visitor @ the Chitown bath houses.

These are the same tactics the Jim Crow people used to disenfranchise black voters, homebuyers, and businesses 50 years ago. They were defeated when plaintiffs could prove that the scrutiny they experienced was consistently different than that received by their (more acceptable) white counterparts.

It’s not that easy to hide behind the bureaucracy anymore.

Mr. Cathy should get the jump on him and close all his businesses in Chicago and leave. All other legitimate busseinesses should follow Mr. Cathy’s example. Law abiding citizens should just leave. Give Chicago to the animals. Let them destroy each other.

Better yet, win a huge civil rights lawsuit and, as part of the settlement, demand Rahm’s resignation (or criminal prosecution). THEN announce that you’re closing all your stores and bailing. Leave town with some walking-around money in your pocket.

[[ Not if Conservatives rally and support Chick-fil-A. I went there yesterday for dinner and took a carryout home. The country is dividing into two waring camps. This is just another manifestation of the dividing of American society. ]]

Interesting that you put it that way.

I said something similar in another thread:

There is a reason that there are more bottom feeders in California than in the rest of the world combined.

I do understand that Chicago could pursue that farce on his behalf, but the legal consequences and downsides for them by a determined client with deep pockets would be enormous.

I would love to be on that legal team because I would be looking at my new million.

I’m not a fast food fan, but I’m going to stop by and see if they have something healthy to eat. They need our support right now.

Why?

Popular culture, schools, etc. have been very successful using ideological subversive techniques in cultural Marxist brainwashing. No other explanation.

There is one near Detroit and I doubt Dave Bing will be telling them to take a hike.

Dave Bing would not have to say anything about the only Chick Fil A in the entire state of Michigan. It is on the campus of Oakland University, 30 miles outside of the City of Detroit.
