And there is always the problem of Romney's willingness to team with Democrats to get his own way.
I'm afraid he's also one of those misguided souls that thinks compromise is a virtue, even if it's just for the sake of compromise.
Im not so sure the GOP would stand up to Barry’s gun banning efforts. Sure, theyd make a lot of noise but in the end do what they always do...COMPROMISE. Barry and ORomney are one in the same...no difference what so ever. Hey, but ORomney is our despot so they makes it all OK. The best measure is look at what theyve done NOT what they say.

You already know the answer. Of course they wouldn’t. And while I think there is a better chance of them standing up to Obama, we can’t be so sure of that, either.

As someone who plans to vote for Romney (because Obama is an absolute disaster) I do fear this. If Romney wins, Republicans had better stand firm against gun control. To be fair, even Bush said he's sign an Assault Weapons Ban if congress put one on his desk.

You are correct. We do know this about Obama. While he is clearly not a fan of private gun ownership, he hasn't done anything so far to curtail the Second Amendment while in office. In fact, he has been a huge disappointment to the proponents of gun control (who understandably had high expectations upon his election).
Obama will get most of the democrats and NONE of the Republicans. Romney will get ALL of the democrats and JUST ENOUGH Republicans. That will be the way Romney institutes his progressive agenda on all the issues.
Romney is the perfect candidate to take on the Conservatives in the house and senate and squelch the conservative cause on such topics as the homosexual agenda, abortion, socialized medicine and gun control.
