At the urging of Valerie Jarrett, President Barack Obama canceled the operation to kill Osama bin Laden on three separate occasions before finally approving the May 2, 2011 Navy SEAL mission, according to an explosive new book scheduled for release August 21. The Daily Caller has seen a portion of the chapter in which the stunning revelation appears.
In ”Leading From Behind: The Reluctant President and the Advisors Who Decide for Him,“ Richard Miniter writes that Obama canceled the “kill” mission in January 2011, again in February, and a third time in March. Obama’s close adviser Valerie Jarrett persuaded him to hold off each time, according to the book.
Miniter, a two-time New York Times best-selling author, cites an unnamed source with Joint Special Operations Command who had direct knowledge of the operation and its planning.
Obama administration officials also said after the raid that the president had delayed giving the order to kill the arch-terrorist the day before the operation was carried out, in what turned out to be his fourth moment of indecision. At the time, the White House blamed the delay on unfavorable weather conditions near bin Laden’s compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan.
But when Miniter obtained that day’s weather reports from the U.S. Air Force Combat Meteorological Center, he said, they showed ideal conditions for the SEALs to carry out their orders.
“President Obama’s greatest success was actually his greatest failure,” Miniter told The Daily Caller Friday. ”Leading From Behind,“ he said, traces the arc of six key Obama administration decisions, and shows how the president made them — and, often, failed to make them.

I believe “ulsterman” had a description of these episodes? And was panned for his lack of credibilty
The version I remember was that the raid only eventually went forward because “they” (Defense? CIA?) found a way to get obama’s words to constitute prior “approval” - then blocked Jarett (and thus obama himself) from knowing about until it was actually launched
Thus obama’s being pulled off a golf course in his golf clothes to watch from a side seat in the WH Situation Room

sorry, but “unnamed sources” can stick it. Not saying it isn’t true, but you’re going to have to do better than that to convince people.
There was a big discussion of this here at FR a while back. I think the gist of it was that the pentagon worked around Jarrett, got tacit approval from Obama, and then quietly put things in motion so by the time Obama knew (note how he was yanked off the golf course at the last minute) it was too late for President Jarrett to interfere.

I read on this site (and others) that in the face of Obama’s continued dithering, Leon Penetta gave the final “go-ahead” to kill Bin-Ladin...and of course, Obama sucked up the credit after the op was a success. No surprise there.
Per Wiki (dubious I know) her father (a physician) was sent there by the US govt to teach (this was in the days of the Shah).
I was getting that with Firefox browser early this morning. If those that pull the strings are trying to keep people from reading this story, it’s not going to work.
It’s hard to make a case for a man who has so few positive items on his resume, especially when the positives were involuntary.
Same for me, my security blocked it.

Ulsterman's WH Insider related a behind the scenes account of the bin Laden raid that jives with this. He said that Jarret made the important decisions in the WH.
