A new poll just out shows the lone Democrat now leading her Republican challengers in the upcoming Wisconsin Senate Race.
Democratic Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin is leading all four of her Republican challengers, in head-to-head matchups, according to a poll released this weekend by Rasmussen Reports.
The results are based on interviews last week with 500 likely Wisconsin voters.

"The most competitive challenge comes from wealthy businessman Eric Hovde. In that head-to-head race Baldwin leads Hovde by 3 percentage points, 45 to 43 percent."
Well I hope that Hovde is the right guy. It looks like he has the best chance. And Fox11 needs an arithmetic lesson: 45 to 43 is THREE points???
Wisconsin is still primed to be taken.
The Republican primary is set for August 14th.
As we see here, the Wisconsin Rs are still fighting for the nomination among themselves. Lets see what the polls say on the 30th Sept.
Thompson and Hovde are ripping each other with attack ads right now, so it’s not surprising that they’re lower in the polls for a bit.
Hovde has the better of it, in my opinion. He’s criticizing Thompson for publicly supporting the mandate in the past, and even has audio of Obama thanking him for his support. Thompson is using the fact that Hovde admits giving a modest amount to a Dem candidate (locally) in the past, when running his business. (At least that’s how I recall them....radio ads both)
Going to be a lot of people voting pretty blind in this one...(the primary, that is)
here is my 2 cents: Tammy Baldwin is a FAR left Dem, who BACKED the unions in the REcall of Scott Walker. Spoke at the crowds of illegal infestation, occupation of our beautiful capital during the famous 14 dem state senators “I can’t have my way so I”m running off to Illinois for 2 weeks”.
Give it a rest with the polls. I personally have answered two phone polls, telling them I was an independant, voted for Obama and will vote for an “unknown” gop senator- our primary is Aug. 14. NO one in WI that voted Walker back in is any mood to elect this “real piece of work, leftie” Tammy Baldwin. UGH Ask us again AFTER the primary - hope Hovde wins IMHO.
This is the same state who dumped Russ Feingold for Ron Johnson, elected Scott Walker twice in 1 1/2 years and gave you Paul Ryan. Trust us - TB is not winning if I have anything to do with it.
Baldwin is to the Left of Obama if you can believe that. She has supported every conceivable Leftist cause. From gun control, tax increases, 0-care, social issues, stimulus, she is down the line as Left as you can go. She has not had almost any exposure to negative ads yet which we all know has considerable impact when they reveal the truth.
Although Hovde’s might match up better according to Ras, he is a political unknown. He is in financial services and has a ton of dough to spend, so this is a strength and weakness. Money is good, but we all know that the Dems will dig up some dirt on some of his business dealings. And unlike Sen Ron Johnson who runs a manufacturing comany, CEOs in the financial industry have little regard with the public. Thompson is likely the most electable, and as a 4 term governor he has been the most popular pol in WI over the last 30 years. But, he does have some rino tendencies and he does believe that government can solve problems in certain circumstances. Thompson has unequivocally stated that he would vote to repeal 0-care as have all GOP candidates. Neumann, a former congressman, is not beloved among many Republicans because of his bitter fight for the GOP nomination for gov vs Walker in 2010, but of the above three, he has the most conservative record. Fitzgerald, the assembly speaker, does not have enough cash, but he could be a dark horse.
Thank you Riverrunner. You explained everything. Wait until our guys get a candidate.
Everything you said.
Just wait until the “solidarity” ads come out showing Tammy leading rallies in the Capitol last year.
She’s a Dane county leftist who will fall flat on her face when she’s introduced to the rat of the state :)
Yes of course, Wisconsin has now voted against what she stands for 5 times in two years but they love Tammy so they will vote for her.
