Elizabeth Warren Ad: Let's Be More Like China Michael Warren August 1, 2012 8:00 AM

Democratic Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren has a new ad running on Massachusetts television praising the Chinese government's investment in public works projects. The ad encourages the United States to follow the lead of the Asian Communist country and "do better." Watch the ad below, courtesy of the New York Sun:

"We've got bridges and roads in need of repair and thousands of people in need of work. Why aren’t we rebuilding America?” Warren says in the 30-second ad. “Our competitors are putting people to work, building a future. China invests 9 percent of its GDP in infrastructure. America? We’re at just 2.4 percent. We can do better. We can build a foundation for a strong new economy and get people to Massachusetts to work right now."

she’s saying china is spending 9% on infrastructure... and we should emulate them

anyone know how much china spends on entitlement programs?

we’re spending 65% of our budget keeping our parasites fed and pampered with various goodies.

cut that to 15% and maybe i’ll be ok with bumping our infrastructure spending to 5%

Are we gonna build a bunch of empty cities because we have a housing shortage?

Pretty close to a big fat zero. They'd rather build an unnecessary railroad or bridge than feed a social parasite. The career path for an American-style looter class refugee would be street begging. :)

Well, the “Big Dig” went so quickly, and so under budget ... why not do more of them?

I used to call the GOP the 'stupid party'.

I might have to reserve that name for the Dems.

Milton Friedman:

At one of our dinners, Milton recalled traveling to an Asian country in the 1960s and visiting a worksite where a new canal was being built. He was shocked to see that, instead of modern tractors and earth movers, the workers had shovels. He asked why there were so few machines. The government bureaucrat explained: “You don’t understand. This is a jobs program.” To which Milton replied: “Oh, I thought you were trying to build a canal. If it’s jobs you want, then you should give these workers spoons, not shovels.”

I thought that was what the stimulus was for.

Plus gas tax and other taxes.

The ghost towns of China: Amazing satellite images show cities meant to be home to millions lying deserted

...These amazing satellite images show sprawling cities built in remote parts of China that have been left completely abandoned, sometimes years after their construction. Elaborate public buildings and open spaces are completely unused, with the exception of a few government vehicles near communist authority offices.

Some estimates put the number of empty homes at as many as 64 million, with up to 20 new cities being built every year

What is she talking about? We spent $12 Billion on a leaky tunnel. Route 128 has been under constant construction for 15 years.

I want to put an end to these wasteful projects for a few years.

I had to drive over a bridge in Lower Mills that took five years to rebuild. The engineers calculated the water flow incorrectly and then it had to be rebuilt again, taking another five years.

Fauxahontas should be thanking her lucky stars that her family isn't rooted in Communist China, as she wouldn't be here today thanks to their "One Child Policy" and Lizzie was #4.

Don’t worry, plenty of freepers will swarm and attack Scott Brown for not being conservative enough. They’d rather have the kook fraud radical Warren in the US Senate to add to Harry Reid’s majority.

Hey Liz,

We just spent almost a trillion dollars.

At 1 million per mile, that works out to a million miles of roads we could have built with all that "shovel-ready" stimulus money.

Say it's 3,000 miles from Maine to California. A million miles works out to more that 330 brand new country-crossing highways we could have built with that stimulus money.

But no, Obama, Biden and the Democraps blew it on bankrupt firms like Solyndra.

Go cry in your chai, Lizzie.

Excellent point! All liberals here know that they would get to join that parasite class. Heck, Warren is already doing beautifully at it, making hundreds of thousands of dollars for doing absolutely nothing at Harvard U while urging labor camps for the rest of us.

When do we start propping up the entire nation by building 5 entire city's the size of Boston a year? That might explain the Chinese growth rate. Don't tell anyone that the cities are empty, all they have in them are government employees who clean the streets and keep the utilities working. China is headed for and enormous fall, that will make the American depression of the 30’s look like good times.

A friend of mine went to China and observed a road under construction. A truck would drop off big rocks and hundreds of Chinese would pound the rocks with small hammers to turn it into gravel. I think we should send the fake Indian over there with a hammer to really get the feel of such an advanced culture.

Answer to Warren’s question about why we aren’t fixing infrastructure: because our present fascist President, unlike the fascist President during the last depression (or the nominally Communist Chinese fascists) decided that borrowed money should be spent on propping up local and state governments’ spending on service employees, rather than on hiring people to do public works projects.
