I added the underlining in the table to make the spacing more readable in this format. The percentage for March of 1993 is 48 percent, the percentage for October 1993 is 51 percent, which lines up with the buying spree prior to the "assault weapon" ban in 1994 and the Brady bill the same year.

The article shows interesting figures that the number of respondents to survey questions about guns tends to drop when "Gun Confiscation" is being discussed. Not a surprise here, but interesting figures.

If we told them, it would spoil the surprise.

And how many are lost in tragic boating accidents but never reported due to the embarrassment of the owners.

Well, there are a few folks who know where some of the tactical stashes are.

Amazingly, these are the same folks I’d hope to use said stashes in defense of the property.

But no, the total number of guns in the house?

I’m not even too clear on that one.

Out of the blue last week, I got a telephone call from the Washington Post conducting a survey on matters of politics and government policy. It was a very extensive survey. I estimate there were 50 questions and we talked on the phone for nearly 30 minutes.

I answered all of the WaPo questions truthfully, but I refused to discuss two topics. One topic was my family's income and the second topic was, you guessed it, the number and type of guns in our home.

I frequently post on a well-known gun forum on the Internet, but I don't describe all the firearms I own or the ammo I stockpile. I never post any pictures of the firearms I own. The Internet is forever, and I don't want the Government to know the weapons I own and where they are stored. It's sad that we can't trust our leaders, but that's the world we live in today, especially with creeps like Eric Holder at the DOJ and Obama in the White House.

Only a few people (family) actually know how many I have. When asked, I usually respond that I have enough to knock off a small 3rd World country, like Russia!

Guess a lot of this depends on what your definition of “gun” is:

This is my rifle, this is my gun.
This is for fighting, this is for fun...!

I know a lot of people, myself included, who never buy a gun from a dealer or event that requires a background check or other government form. Rather, they buy guns from other gun owners.

Private sales do not need the eyes of the nanny state peering over their shoulders.

My state is not concerned with registering peoples’ firearms, and we’d vote out anyone suggesting it in a heartbeat. It is simply not going to happen. If my doctor ever asks any of his patients if they own guns, it would be only to see if he could make a trade!

I will never admit to either owning or not owning guns.

My weakness might be me braggin’ on a particularly fine piece, and the boom noises occasionally coming from my back forty.

If one were to be a CCW, then it would be wise to have 2 dedicated to that purpose, and here’s why: the cops will want the one (hopefully never) used in an act of self-defense - which you will never see again. If you have 2, then you can go on.

If one were the ‘home defense’ type, again 2 for the same reason.

If that liberal-dopehead-dreamy day of confiscation creeps up, remember .... surrender by utilization of ammunition, first.

It's a great guessing game. Let's hope they never get counted completely.

What is more interesting is the number of people who might be available to operate those firearms.

Perhaps 150 Million American citizens have ready access to firearms. They either already know how to shoot, or they know that they can learn.

The total number of members of all active military, reserve military, and paramilitary, in ALL the nations of the world is: 73,041,002

How many gun owners are there in the United States of America?

"Answer: Number of guns and gun owners in USA. Most estimates range between 39% and 50% of US households having at least one gun(that's about 43-55 million households). The estimates for the number of privately owned guns range from 190 million to 300 million. Removed those that skew the stats for their own purposes the best estimates are about 45% or 52 million of American households owning 260 million guns).

HOW MANY U.S. ADULTS HAVE HOW MANY GUNS?

A lot of teens own guns. Most young'uns in my family get their first firearm somewhere between the age of eight and twelve. Because I spent most of my time out of the country I only had three by the time I turned eighteen. My cousins tended to have a average of eight.
