Mark Neumann is no Ted Cruz, but he is closer to the unelectable Sharron Angle, a poorly-chosen Tea Partier with a record of red flags. Neumann served 2 terms in Congress in the ‘90s and could barely hold the same seat that Paul Ryan has easily held (in fact, the only positive thing one could say about Neumann is that he quit so that Ryan could succeed him). He blew the race against Feingold and has seemed desperate to get into high office again as of late. His ugly and ill-advised race against Scott Walker for Governor didn’t improve his standing. There is no particular reason this guy has going for him to elect him. What has he done lately ? Apparently nothing.
Hovde and Fitzgerald are better choices. I’m not a fan of the elderly Thompson (who should’ve run back in the ‘90s for the Senate and been retiring by now), but even he stands a better chance at winning than the divisive Neumann.
Did you think he was?
I made no comparison between the two.
OK fine, you don't like Newmann. No problem.
But prefering Thompson over Newmann?
No to status quo.
Neumann is also a Global Warming/Cap and Trade nut with investments in Ethanol (as is Tommy). Add to that his disgraceful and dishonest campaigns against Scott Walker and Eric Hovde, and he will never get my vote.
field! With the decisive post. Clarifying the confusion for all reader present.
“Mark Neumann is no Ted Cruz, but he is closer to the unelectable Sharron Angle, a poorly-chosen Tea Partier with a record of red flags.”
Very well-stated. Sharron Angle and Christine O’Donnell almost single-handedly cost us control of the Senate last time and I think that the TEA Party has become more savvy since then.
As for this race, I agree that Jeff Fitzgerald would be the best Senator, but he’s not really a viable candidate. I’m for Tommy Thompson due to electability alone, given he couldn’t possibly lose to the likes of Tammy Baldwin. Of course, I also said the same thing about Al Franken, and we all know how that turned out.
