I am referring to "we" in the collective sense. I know that most folks here did not vote for Romney in the primaries. Back in March, I voted for Newt Gingrich in my primary, not because I'm a fan of Gingrich but because at the time, I felt he had the best shot of beating Romney for the nomination. My first choice, Sarah Palin, didn't even run.

Using the collective "we" might irk some but look at the results in conservative bastions like Utah, Wyoming and Texas. In those stays, Romney didn't just win their primary/caucuses - he crushed the opposition overwhelmingly.

So yes, collectively speaking, "we" did this to ourselves. You and I alone are not going to change things. We need to convince others. We are not going to accomplish this by yelling at them, calling them names, telling them they are stupid, etc.

On a positive note, I am glad to see the victory of Ted Cruz in Texas last week. There are other Tea Party victories we can point to across the country - so the tide is beginning to shift. We are beginning to build on something here. We need to keep the momentum going and should not attack other conservatives because they are not 100% in lockstep with us. The key is to win them over through persuasion.

With Romney’s pro-gay marriage history in Massachusetts, his silence just seems to confirm he’s more apt to side with Friday’s “homo kiss-in” protesters than those of us who flooded the store on Wednesday, who stood up for free speech, free enterprise, and traditional values. Either that, or he’s just too scared and politically timid to make a stand. Depressing beyond words. It makes me sick to my stomach to think he’s going to be our nominee.

How about you wait to see who Romney decides to nominate as VP to decide if he’s forgotten about conservatives.

OK?

I’m personally for Palin, who in my opinion would do a (lot) toward capturing all the conservatives currently looking for, every reason to rebel.

At least wait for his VP selection.

Your words, I believe, are representative of the thoughts and feelings of millions of conservatives who are still, sadly, on the Republican plantation.

I pray that you, and the rest of them, will get off that reservation before it is too late for this free republic.

Being unprincipled always leads to being unwise.

“Short-sighted unto blindness” I think the King James translates it.

Precisely. This is nothing like the civil rights movement although the gay agenda crowd love to make like it is.

Romney would do best to stay away from the Chic fil A drama...
however, his supporters should do well to make as much of it as they can.

It has made a very important point that the Romney group should understand..
Chick fil A day=hundred of thousands show up for support
Chi fil Gay day=a few thousand show up.

Hundreds of thousands vs a few thousand.

Well put SA and spot on.

Romney needs to focus on taxes, the economy, OboCare, defense, self sustained oil production, invigorating the private sector, shrinking the public sector and all the other things that Obo is weak on.

He doesn't need to be sidetracked into a diversion that can ONLY benefit B H O.

I do not underestimate the importance of what has happened with the Chick fil A thing but, let his surrogates carry this one.

The President takes an oath as follows:

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. "

If Romney can't deal with Constitutional rights as a candidate, what do you imagine he'd do as President?

Obviously he's not prepared for this particular job.

How is supporting traditional marriage a trap?

He doesn’t support it - as he initiating same sex marriage in MA and personally married over 100 homo’s BUT he LIED about it - saying I didn’t do it, the other guys did!

godless romney is a LIAR! Those who bought his lie, obviously, like the taste of lies.

Look here, Romney's Mittbot surrogates CAN'T carry the First Amendment issues. One of his spokesman is a militant gay. Another spokesman's only response to the press is 'Kiss my ass". As you go downhill from there it just gets worse.

Mittbots are not prepared to govern.

Amazing how the ‘roll and over and play dead’ dogs are revealing just how much they don’t like America.

What’s at her core is considered a distraction. America has been TOO GOOD for some - now watch her crumble and these dogs will be barking the loudest!

The problem is that Lord Romney has offered concrete no plans for any of the things you mention, and I think he is trying to conceal the well-known fact that he’s a statist and actually probably has very similar ideas to those of the Dems.

He has been silent on all social issues, and he’s not letting the “surrogates” (I hate that term) get into them either.

The GOP-e picked him because they think only a Dem can win, and they think Romney will have enough Dem views to get people who simply don’t like Obama while at the same time his vague bragging about his corporate and financial business experience will serve to lure Wall Street away from Bambi.

You really need to read through the First Amendment someday ~ most likely an enormous task for any Mittbot ~ but it talks about free speech, free press, religious freedom, assembly, a variety of matters ~ they are all in there together.

It's not up to the preachers to be the exclusive vendors of the details ~ unless, of course, you belong to a peculiar church found predominantly in the Intramountain West ~ then I guess somebody speaks for you so you just don't understand what this means to everybody else.

Just my Opine, but why get involved when Obama has not.

AT LEAST, you admit Romney is a FOLLOWER and NOT A LEADER. Surprising to read truth from a mittbot!

I believe that this whole controversy was a coordinated attack by the left, I mean, how many people read the Baptist Times, other that Baptists. Distraction, yes, but the much more fundamental aspect is the basic rights of the people of this country, speech & religion. DOMA is still the law of the land but to those folks just because the O said he supports gay marriage they act as if DOMA didn’t exist. Apparently they consider it a hate crime if you support DOMA.

There will be more attacks of this nature before the election and Mr. Romney better engage now if he hopes to have a chance in November. It will be a constant barrage between now and the election.

This is a fight for the heart and soul of American liberty and Romney best recognize that and act accordingly or he will end up on the trash heap of history along with freedom and liberty, and all the rest of us.

IMO, it would be called stupidity for getting involved in a no win scenario.

Those conservatives disposed to dislike Romney will not be swayed and it would fill the LSM heart’s with glee as they went after him.
