Mitt Romney got some celebrity love when Clint Eastwood showed up at his high-dollar fundraiser this evening in Idaho to offer his endorsement of the presumptive GOP nominee.
When the Oscar-winning director was asked why he was supporting Romney, Eastwood responded, “Because I think the country needs a boost somewhere.”
Eastwood, who has a home near the Sun Valley Resort where the fundraiser was held, was wearing grey sneakers, beige slacks, a green blazer and a pair of sunglasses, when reporters spotted him.

I wonder how many Freepers are going to start talking $#!T about Eastwood now that he endorsed Mitt?
But he also has hosted a $5,000-per-ticket fundraiser for California's disgraced and recalled Democratic governor, Gray Davis.
He's a RINO.
It really surprised me that Eastwood has endorsed Romney. Must be the economy and not social issues. The older Eastwood gets the more he has swayed to the left, endorsing both sodomite “marriage” and abortion. But then again, Romney has been all over the map on these two hot button issues, so maybe Eastwood figures Romney is as liberal as Obama.
I don’t disagree with that, and when you think about it, endorsing McCain WAS endorsing a Ted Kennedy Soros loving Democrat. (Eee gads!)
What we have to appreciate, is that Eastwood did see Obama as worse. Now he sees Obama worse again.
That is something. I mean we have Democrats out there in the entertainment industry who still can’t see anything at all wrong with Obama.
In the midst of them, Eastwood is a moral giant. I guess we have to be happy with what we can get, obvious shortcomings in mind.
Is a liberal with an "R" next to his name better or worse than a liberal with an "L"? That's been debated many times by many people on these pages and I understand both sides.
There is also the issue of forfeiting one's values to vote for a pro-abort POS like Romney. Fortunately, I live in the Peoples' Republik of Kalifornia where my vote won't count thus I will not have to cast one. This state will be won by Zer0 hands down. Those in other states have a real tough decision to make so I'll leave it up to them how to make it.
Eastwood endorsed — and campaigned for — Sen. John McCain during the 2008 election and was forced to clarify that he was not supporting Obama after he voiced a Super Bowl ad about the recovering auto industry earlier this year.
Romney: "There is a guy here from the world of acting, who has pursued his dreams in a very unusual way, he stood up to the industry and did things his own way."The crowd applauded and some pointed to Eastwood.
Romney: "Can I get Clint Eastwood to come up here and say hi to everybody?"
Eastwood walked up and said something inaudible and Romney laughed.
Eastwood: "This is very nice to be here today, tonight, today. Let's clear the smoke."
"I was doing a picture in early 2000s called Mystic River in his home state. At that time Gov. Romney was running for governor. I said, God this guy is too handsome to be governor but he does look like he could be president. As the years have gone by I'm beginning to think even more so that."
"He's going to restore a decent tax system that we need badly so that there is a fairness and people are not pitted against one another of whose paying taxes and who isn't."
"Also we don't want anybody taking away the Olympic medals, tax wise, from the Olympic athletes. The government is talking about getting a couple of nickles."
"It's now more important than ever that we need Gov. Romney and I'm going to be voting for him as I know most of you will be ... we've got to just spread the word and get the whole country behind this..."
The Gov then took back the microphone:
Romney: "He just made my day. What a guy."
I generally engage with my opinion until the Convention, and then let things play out after that.
I’m not here to get Obama elected. I just can’t stand the pieces of —— our party nominates against Conservative’s will.
I hear ya, brother. That's why I feel fortunate that I don't have to vote for him.
I'm generally not so enthused about the conventions. But this year should be different. :-)

I don’t begrudge him too much in this instance over his political dabblings considering the stakes of the race .. He’s no Sean Penn, Thank Goodness.
Better the money goes Right (albeit haphazardly) than to Roseanne barr or The True CPUSA, the DEms.
I know the Freetards don't get it, but Eastwood's story -- 'I thought we were doing something good, repairing an historical wrong, but we made a greater mistake, and now we must give the White House back to the adults' is the meta story of this election.
I’ll probably try to watch them both. I’m not sure which will be the hardest to watch though. I sure hope the Republicans surprise me with a decent convention. I know this sounds strange to say, but I expect more out of the home team.
