Right-wing extremist terrorism as deadly a threat as al Qaeda? (CNN says, 'Yes.')

The word "terrorism" in the United States usually brings to mind plots linked in some way to al Qaeda, while the danger posed to the public by white supremacists, anti-abortion extremists and other right-wing militants is often overlooked.

Militants linked to al Qaeda or inspired by jihadist ideology have carried out four terrorist attacks in the United States since September 11, which have resulted in 17 deaths. Thirteen of them were in a shooting incident at Fort Hood, Texas, in November 2009.

By contrast, right-wing extremists have committed at least eight lethal terrorist attacks in the United States that have resulted in the deaths of nine people since 9/11, according to data compiled by the New America Foundation.

And if, after investigation, Sunday's attack on the Sikh temple in Wisconsin is included in this count, the death toll from right-wing terrorism in the U.S. over the past decade rises to 15.

Its the “narrative.” “Progressive” left wingers can’t be racists or bigots, so, if someone is a racist or bigoted has to be a right winger. The circular logic has gone on for so long that lefties think they they can win a argument just by screaming “racist!”

But, of course, the leftist propaganda meme is that if you’re a racist, you must be a rightist. Not true, as even the most cursory observation of history demonstrates.

Only a racist would insist that minorities are incapable of passing occupation skills tests are therefore must have their test scores graded at a lower standard Liberalism is a mental disorder.

Indeed the seating arrangement in the French General Assembly was the origin of the term (though back then “liberal” definitely included classical liberals who are now called conservatives in America and only by a stretch included Jacobins, and “conservative” meant monarchist). I merely described the actual usage of the words since the time of the Russian Civil War.

See my post #33 above, which describes the actual meaning (or rather, lack of any real meaning) of the phrase “right wing”.

That’s a good way of looking at it.

For a great take on things from a historical perspective, see the Hayek quote on my FR profile page. It’s the 3rd one down, two paragraphs. It well describes why the Nazis and the Communists were so similar in 1920s and 30s Germany.

The security officer just sent this story out as one of our 'required reading' exercises.

Deja Vu - It's beginning to feel just like a repeat of the late-Clinton-era tactics - demonizing the right using the weight of the Federal Juggernaut.
