Ted Cruz, Scott Walker to speak at GOP convention but Sarah Palin’s role still a mystery

Ted Cruz, the Tea Party-backed Senate candidate whose upset Republican primary win in Texas made national waves, will be speaking at the GOP convention this month, but the role of one of his biggest boosters remains up in the air.

Sarah Palin has not been included on the three slates of convention speakers released by RNC Chairman Reince Priebus this week, even after he said Monday night that he wants her to play a role at the high-profile event.

“I think a lot of her and hope that she does speak,” Priebus told Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren.

The former Alaska governor and vice presidential nominee remains a favorite with the Republican base and conservatives like Newt Gingrich, although she still raises eyebrows among the GOP establishment.

She reminded many why she is so colorful – and controversial – by showing up at a Republican Senate candidate’s campaign rally in Missouri on Friday wearing a tight Superman t-shirt, oversized sunglasses, slim cropped black pants and sky-high platform sandals.

Last week, Palin told Van Susteren that she has been approached about a possible role at convention, but is waiting for more details before making a decision.

“Of course there’s some interest there, but you know, we just kind of want to know more details, what they have in mind, and we haven’t heard back,” Palin said.

One rising Republican star who will be speaking at the RNC is Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, who became a national GOP hero for slashing collective bargaining rights for unions and then fighting off a recall effort...

Sometimes helping means you step aside and certainly you don’t invite yourself into a leadership or speakership type role at a convention like this. You try to work with the strategy the campaign has in place, and evidently Romney's campaign has a strategy that they will implement. And whether I'm there or not as a speaker, I'm comfortable either way just like Newt Gingrich said he was comfortable either way -- speaking or not.

Palin also made clear that she and Governor Romney have a good relationship:

Speaking personally, there is no hatchet to bury or olive branch that needs to be passed between Mitt Romney and myself. We have a good relationship and I have great respect for him and I am so thankful the GOP has a strong candidate who understands the private sector and what it takes to get the economy roaring again.

Most people see the fact that she has not been invited to speak at the convention as a diss, but I see it as a blessing as she has helped more true Conservative Candidates win their primaries and win lose or draw, Mittens and the Republicans are going to have to deal with her sooner rather than later!

I didn't know that, but it contains some interesting reverse parallels to today and the current situation with the GOPe and conservatives and with the quality of current candidates in the November election.

I think this quote from the Wiki on Barry Goldwater is telling:

Goldwater disliked Johnson (who he said "used every dirty trick in the bag"), and Richard M. Nixon of California (whom he later called "the most dishonest individual I have ever met in my life")

The record that's now playing seems to be stuck in a groove and keeps skipping and replaying the same thing over and over again.

There will be no Nuge, Palin, Kardasian, octomom or other reality star. There maybe a huckster.

I understand, from reading your posts, that Sarah Palin really isn't your kind of people. What was the quote..."When will this uneducated woman go away?"

I didn't know that a person with a college degree could be called uneducated. Oh, but, silly me! She has a bachelor's degree from a college in (snicker) IDAHO! That HARDLY counts. I see that you've been quick to defend Chelsea Clinton's "accomplishments" (LOL). She's a raving liberal, but she's Ivy League, and that makes her worthy. /s

Yeah, Palin had a reality show. She's also five for five in her Senate picks. Take heart, though. That lily-livered appeasement crowd at the RNC won't dare have her, or Uncle Ted, or Levin, or any Constitutionalist who actually knows how to communicate to the public. You can watch Little Lord Fauntleroy accept his coronation. And I'll be polishing my nails.

I really do despise pretentiousness.

So Diog, are you still not getting it that there is at least some difference between Bork Obunga and Mittens:

Granted, Romney isn't the ideal candidate, but for you to not help expunge Obama from our lives, is unthinkable. I, for one, cannot tolerate another 4 years of this tyrant.

Just remember:

"For evil to triumph it is only necessary for good men to do nothing."

“If Romney takes her as VP, I am that much more inclined to vote for the ticket.”

I agree.

This is the type of message that needs to be put out in a Romney ad. Instead we get spokespersons like that lady who responded that Soptic’s wife wouldn’t have died if we had Romney care. No wonder this mornings Fox News poll has him eight points behind Obama.

I think a great role for Palin would be to introduce Paul Ryan!
