I want a database of every single event like this posted on FR every single day.
For a positive morale boost, that we won’t be taken for the meek, the weak and most certainly defenseless.
I sometimes have a real love/hate relationship with my fellow SE Texans. I may not agree with a bunch of them politically (I hate that so many are Democrats though that’s changing), but I so love the overall spirit of the place!
The robber appears to have brought the all-conquering shotgun and even got the drop on the guy. It still didn’t go the way he thought it would.
A couple of interesting notes:
http://www.beaumontpd.com/intended_robbery_victim_turns_tables_on_shotgun_wielding_robber.htm
“Officers identified the robber as Bryan Keith August, a 24-year-old Beaumont resident. A photo of August is not being released at this preliminary phase of the investigation because it could harm the integrity of the investigation. We are asking that the media not publish or post his photo at this time.”
“Officers then transported him to the county jail for the aggravated robbery as well as two outstanding warrants for burglary of a habitation and a pending warrant for a previous unrelated aggravated robbery. Officers also located a vehicle near the scene of this robbery that had been reported stolen. Investigation revealed that the suspect had used this stolen vehicle during the commission of tonights robbery attempt.”
(September 10, 2010)
“A man found only in underwear was arrested Thursday in connection with a robbery of a Beaumont Dollar General...
“Police and a K-9 unit searched the area with the help of neighborhood witnesses, the release states. A man that matched the robber’s description was found in his underwear near Estelle Street and Glenwood Avenue, the release states.
“A second K-9 unit found the store’s stolen money and the gun used in the robbery.
“Bryan Keith August, 22, of Beaumont, is in Jefferson County Jail on an aggravated robbery charge. His bond has been set at $50,000.”
And that’s how these encounters need to go.
Are you listening to me, Michael Doomberg?
Contrary to the first sentence of the article, I think the robber targeted the perfect “victim” - an armed one who would shoot him. If every robber targeted victims like that, the world would soon become a better place.
Never fired, dropped once. Minor scratches and blood stain on the butt.
Given the usual response when armed scumbag meets armed citizen, it appears that the citizens have generally thought things out a little better than the scumbag. An honest, clear thinking, reasonable person who has soberly considered the responsibilities involved in taking up a firearm seems to fare much better against your garden variety street thug. Maybe that’s why our citizen armies have consistently kicked the butts of zealots, fascists and mercenaries.
i would love to see the moves he made to go from a shotgun at his head to shooting the guy.
Those are my kind of Reparations, especially if the Shotgun was a Remington 870 and the guy was driving a 69 Charger.
Guns do prevent weirdos from prospering. I’d rather have one than not.
