KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — A newly recruited Afghan village policeman opened fire on his American allies on Friday, minutes after they gave him a new weapon as a present, killing two U.S. service members. It was the latest in a disturbing string of attacks by Afghan security forces on the international troops training them.

Friday's attacker was identified as Mohammad Ismail, a man in his 30s who had joined the Afghan Local Police just five days ago.

He opened fire during an inauguration ceremony attended by American and Afghan national forces in the Kinisk village in the far western province of Farah, provincial police chief Agha Noor Kemtoz said.

"As soon as they gave the weapon to Ismail to begin training, suddenly he took the gun and opened fire toward the U.S. soldiers," Kemtoz said.

We need to go to the root of the problem. Every time they do this, we need to inundate their country with Christianity. Blare the gospel from loudspeakers. Carpet bomb their cities with bibles and gospel tracts.

Change the religion, change the culture, and then you win the war.

I know it’s a lot easier said then done. I won’t argue that. But couldn’t we keep that in check with CIA and spec ops? We almost did take Bin Laden out if it wasn’t for Clinton. Seems like we could just do clandestine operations. Terrorist site pops up. Send a team in and nail it with a missle.

Again. I know it’s not that easy, but it’s better than the horrible losses we are taking now. The place will always be one step from imploding, so great Americans will have died in vain anyway. Why add more to the count?

When we go to war, we should go to win as quickly as possible with our gloves off. To do otherwise is immoral and a disservice.

all the troops who died would have died in vain and for absolutely nothing

It is painful to admit that this is exactly what has happened.

Nevertheless, we must admit it if we are to prevent it from happening again.

Horrible. Again. But I have to ask:

Are these soldiers ordered to martyr themselves by handing a loaded gun to a local?

Why was that gun loaded in the first place?

Haven’t they figured out yet that there’s a good chance of this happening?

Why wasn’t a sniper (or some guards) deployed that would take out anyone making a threatening move?

Etc. etc.

And tomorrow or next week the same thing will happen again!

WTF???!!!

Don’t care, just so long as the villagers or townies go “Ewwwwwwww!” when they see it.
After all its them we’re trying to make an impression on: “If you betray us, you and your family will be defiled so that you can’t reach Paradise, then die in a horrible fashion.”

I read the book. They were backwards violent people . . . until the gospel of Jesus changed them.

Our troops are not gonna change the afghanis. The gospel will if they are willing to receive it.

I’m not willing to risk more troops to achieve what they cannot do.

Bring them home.
