LAS VEGAS — President Barack Obama is set to hold a campaign rally at Canyon Springs High School in North Las Vegas on Wednesday, his first visit to Southern Nevada since Nevada Journal revealed that his campaign left taxpayers here on the hook for the costs of events at local public schools.
Obama's campaign, Obama for America (OFA), left the Clark County School District with nearly $25,000 in unpaid bills from two rallies at Bonanza and Coronado high schools in 2008.
Neither CCSD nor the Obama campaign would confirm for Nevada Journal the campaign's plans to pay for Wednesday's event.
In 2008, CCSD billed the Obama campaign $53,116.12 for the Bonanza and Coronado rallies. Obama for America originally paid $28,484.40 of the bill, but left $24,631.72 unpaid.
That remainder was not paid until June 2012, following multiple Nevada Journal inquiries. The bill was for 500 hours of school police officer overtime, providing extra security for the rallies.
As Nevada Journal reported in July, Aoife McCarthy, press secretary for OFA's Nevada organization, said she didn't know why the campaign waited four years to pay the 2008 bill.

He should be required to report unreimbursed expenses as campaign contributions, because they are.
Where’s that turd with glasses, Harry Reid, in all this?
This is his home state.
Westport, CT got the same treatment.
Our prez is just an F’n scumbag....can anyone out here IMAGINE the ‘moral outrage’ from the MSM if a Republican president was out stiffing school districts for presidential visit law enforcement costs?
If he asked, and they said "Come on down", then screw 'em - they deserve what they get.
Didn't Hussein tell everyone else NOT to go there?

And that's the fundamental difference between the campaigns and the candidates. One is honest and pays the bills in advance. The other is a deadbeat.
Seems to me that before Obama sets foot in LV, his campaign should be made to pony up in advance. It would be a sound business practice. That's the problem with government. It isn't run like a business.
If hussein can find a way to screw taxpayers, he will do it.
I know a woman who did Gore’s make-up in 1992 and never got paid. Democrats have been pulling this off for a long time. I wonder how many idiots keep letting them show up over and over again.
North Las Vegas is heading into bankruptcy:

Recently, they “curtailed” overtime in their fire dept and the resultant savings amounted to $57 million the first year. Cops and Firefighters, the top of the union leach list! They feel “entitled” to be millionaires and they don’t care who has to go under to support their continued profligate lifestyle.
“Didn’t Hussein tell everyone else NOT to go there?”
Yes, and he and Michelle have made multiple trips here, making our lives hell trying to deal with street closures. Nice to be warned beforehand to stay home tomorrow.
Stay Classy DemoRats!
fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me
Lower property taxes than anywhere else in the country the schools get funded primarily by taxes on hotels and casinos. Still education in Nevada has been gutted. Ranked 50th of 50 states the new African American Superintendent without a PhD, Dwight Jones, has taken it out on the teachers. They laid off 419 teachers prior to the summer while hiring 300 new teachers, a lot of them from out of state, giving them preferential treatment to teachers in state and simultaneously engaging in many forms of discrimination. Then they hired these laid off teachers back in August due to the unexpected retirements of many teachers who didn’t like being treated like excrement by the administration. Many of these retirements were early retirements and this adds to our country’s unemployment. Also Obama and Dwight Jones just removed Nevada from having to comply with the No Child Left Behind requirements. Many of the education problems in the state are due to non English speakers and jobs in the state being given to newer immigrants instead of Americans.
Supposedly selling out to his buddies in the gold mining industry. It is the golden rule. He who has the gold makes the rules.
“Ranked 50th of 50 states the new African American Superintendent without a PhD, Dwight Jones, has taken it out on the teachers.”
Well, that explains some things. Sheesh, when my daughter was in 4th grade in P.A., the principal had a Ph.D. For the few years my daughter was in school here, her teachers were actually quite good. She wasn’t in the school that does 1/2 day Spanish immersion though, and when she went to the horrific inner city school, she was there for the magnet program for gifted children. There are a few excellent schools in the nice neighborhoods, but they’re way out numbered. I imagine it can be hard for kids to learn though after they’ve been held up at gun point walking to school or they don’t speak English, having recently arrived from Mexico.
In addition to this they instituted new procedures called investigative interviews explicitly designed to create grounds for the constructive discharge of veteran teachers. Teachers at schools have protested, with some schools having every teacher physically there sign petitions in protest of the investigative interview witch hunts that are going on in the state. All of this is to no avail though. Teachers are being persecuted in the state of Nevada by the African American "leadership" of Obama, Linda Young, and Dwight Jones.
Obama's way to "create jobs" here is to fire existing teachers or to force them into early retirement.
Welcome to the Neo-facist socialism of Obama!
They think they will get away with all this too, so far they have!
These little ‘outings’ need to be paid C.O.D.
He should be treated as the C.O.D. pResident
