If needs be, no one. We lose the seat either way, and with Akin gone there will be less risk of losing nationally or hurting the downticket races.

Of course, if you are hot to teach the Republican party a lesson and don't care about getting four more years of Obama and a Democratic Senate, then that argument doesn't hold much water.

“. . . assume all of you naysayers would rather McCaskill run unopposed?”

If it means Romney winning the state comfortably without putting in any resources instead of this C*********K happening the answer is a RESOUNDING YES

Him and his cult of psychotics, ABR’s, Hucksters, and “holier than thous” are going to ruin this entire election.

Yes, they are delusional "kooks."

Akin isn’t the “Tea Party” guy. Elements of the Tea Party supported both of his opponents, Brunner and Steelman.

Missouri is a McCain state, there’s no good reason why Obama should be up.

McCain won Missouri 49.36% to 49.23%, a difference of 4,000 votes.

Do you really think that if Akin gets out, the Romney/Ryan numbers will go up?

Is this a joke? The answer is a categorical yes, nationwide, more in some places than others but uniformly "yes."

It’s not that MO voters suddenly turned to Obama. It’s that Republicans/right-leaning Independents are so disgusted by Akin that they stay home.

This guy is a boil that will only continue to grow the fester the longer he stays in the race. Please, SOMEONE get the long knives out for Akin!

Yes! Akin is a cancer that is spreading fast and takes the focus away from Obama’s horrible record.

Huckabee and his delusional cabal of “purists” are going to ruin this election for us.

Yes and in the name of purity of principle, they will see to it that the most radically pro-abortion administration in history and their Senate enabler will be re-elected.

You are factually incorrect.

Akin can still withdraw, and a replacement can be named by the Republicans which can include Brunner and/or Steelman.

A court order is needed, but is possible before Sept. 25th. (The campaign has to pay for ballot reprints.)

There is a sore loser law that prevents primary opponents from running third party.

It would not surprise me that Akin’s supporters are withholding their support from Mitt and telling pollsters they will be voting for Obama or not remain undecided.

If missouri changes it’s vote in the presidential because of one representative’s statement they are a pack of fickle, unprincipled morons.

You are correct and what a pack of doomsayers regarding one gaffe on FR lately.

If this one dumbass gaffe changes the outcome of the election and the direction and destiny of America we are already lost and have been for some time.

I can't believe that Akin will not step under that bus that the GOP Leadership usually reserves for Tea Party members. Akin must hate the Tea Party to not want to capitulate to the RINO leadership and the liberal media calling for his head.

How Dare He??!!

What does he think he's doing? Standing on some principles? This is about the party!! We don't have any place for people with principles!! Get him out!!!!!!

Pick one — and you will anger the supporters of the others.

That is absolute nonsense. The State committee won't make a selection unless and until all factions are pleased with the substitution. EVERYONE will fall in line, because the current alternative spells DISASTER.

If the GOP pumps more money into Missouri, it will also help Akin, which is good. It is time the GOP calls off its circular firing squad and starts supporting all Reps, including Akin.

Karl Rove's SuperPAC pulled its ads out of MO. May "Legend in his own mind" Rove will reconsider.

And what’s frustrating about this is — so long as Akin stubbornly remains — the dems can call the shots on how miserable they want this whole tawdry episode to be for us. They own the “media” and can dredge Akin’s statement up anytime they feel the need to slap down a pro-life GOP candidate who may be gaining on the dem opponent.

Until Akin goes, the enemy holds the country’s future in its hands.

And, given that, I’m beginning to wonder if Akin is getting some kind of under-the-table incentive to remain.
