Embattled Senate candidate Todd Akin just told reporters in Chesterfield that he is staying in the Senate race against Democratic incumbent Claire McCaskill.

Akin repeated the kinds of statements he'd made previously to national media, asserting that he's never had the support of the Republican party establishment anyway. [...]

Stupidest thing I've heard all day :
In other words, as long as nations like the U.S., Israel, and Russia have nukes but rogue nations like Iran and North Korea don't[,] Iran and North Korea will continually pursue them with a willingness to use them. Yet if we get rid of ours, they will stop the pursuit of theirs... and everybody can hug and get along, naturally.

Put your money where your mouth is, send Akin money... that is if you really really support him.

“I suggest conservatives of all stripes start calling “Obamacare” Akincare instead.

Should they do that before or after he votes against it in the Senate???

If Akin were to drop out, the GOP will lose that race anyway. No way they can get a candidate in there that can clean up the mess and win in two months.

Akin has to fight. He made a stupid statement, clearified his remarks and apologized. Nothing more to do other than go on the attack of McCaskill’s voting record, tax cheat issues and her airplane. You know, the things that really matter to people?

We are losing the battle to liberals and have been for a very long time. If Akin drops out, we lose this one by concession. If Akin in stays in and loses, then we go down fighting. If Akin win, we get a victory.

Also I am officially done with weak kneed RINO’s, cry babies and drama queens on talk radio (Rush, Levin, Hannity, Beck, Ingrahm, etc.). These a-holes have done the work against Akin for the DNC. They are traitors as far as I am concerned.

Thank You. Well Said.

I can’t believe the number of people on here attacking a guy who is actually standing up against the GOPe. I know most of you are letting the GOPe lead you around like a puppy and now you actually support the RINO Romney but why fight against one of the most conservative senators we will have in November? Akin will WIN in November and don’t worry, your pretty boy Romney will still take Missouri.

This is ridiculous. Before Hannity said anything, before Coulter said anything, before any of the GOPe said anything, the hue and cry from many Republicans was “please drop out, Akin.”

And as “red” as Missouri is, it’s only 40% Republican. Last time I checked, 40% doesn’t win many elections. This isn’t Republicans’ fail. It’s Akin’s.

The only way we can take back the senate is for Romney, Rove, the GOPe, all RINOs, all Republicans and all grassroots tea party conservatives to get behind ALL of our candidates and support them to the hilt. Time to stop the bitching and start the pitching. If Romney/Rove torpedo Akin like they did our prior tea party candidates, then they’ll be showing their true RINO colors.

Go Akin!!

>Then he better change his tone quick and go on the offense.

>> About what. From what I hear he's been on the offensive taking on obama's policies and those that endorse them. What more would you have him do?

> It was a major foul up statement but it is the past.

>> It was a 'major foul up? Are you kidding me? It is only a major deal because you're making it so. It doesn't come close to being the "foul up" of not vetting obama. So many rinos are running around bashing Akin for one little misspeak and not saying squat about what obama is doing to our country. People that are being so easily distracted by the left's propaganda shouldn't be allowed to vote. My opinion.

> I am still pissed at him simply because it played right into the left’s hands and gave them the Macacca moment of the campaign.

>> You cannot be serious. You are not going to support Akin because he is pro-life? Are you also going to blame him for all the woes this country has been suffering during obama's tenure as Der Fuhrer?

Praise be to God we have one more "real" Conservative with the character to stand up for good Godly principles. We need 534 more just like him if you ask me.

Ronald Reagan must have a tear in his eye looking down at who we have in the WH today.

He needs to go. November cannot get here soon enough.

Our senator needs contributions to fight off the Akin-bombs being tossed by his opponent, so no $$ left over for Akin.

Good luck in Missouri.

The problem is Todd Aiken won in a three person race. He got a simple majority to win the nomination. Once he won he showed his true “heart” on rape - similar to the “gaff” “mispeak” of Obama’s “you didn’t built that business”.

Now he wants to walk it back and those of us that knew he wasn’t fit to serve in the first place.

Many are wanting a 3rd party candidate. Many will vote for R/R and let the Senatorial vote blank. Missouri is the Show Me State and most of us don’t like what we have seen in Mr. Akins.....and his suporters.

We have lost any chance at the Senate, and will be stuck with o-care, all thanks to Akin, one of onama’s most important supporters. “Legitimate rape” will be the number one issue from now on.

Completely untrue. Other candidates were polling well above McCaskill just 2 weeks back, and Brunner and Steelman both have campaign ready to let her rip and win.

They obviously did not poll above Akin

Of course....you probably do not want to mention Steelman’s 60% ACLU rating (Akin 0%) or Brunner being supported by the Chamber of Commerce (he is better on Amnesty than Akin).

Appears Missourians are smarter than the Liberal GOP

We should all agree to take a timeout on the Akin fiasco.

Yeah. The OBots are busy today being indignant and whining about Mitten's birth certificate comment. :-)

Akin is an unelectable lost cause, so it doesnt matter if we wail or if we support him. Either way, McCaskill beats him.
Our only chance for victory is if he withdraws.

You are absolutely right. I will do just that.

If Akin drops out, the GOP-e will win a battle, but conservatives will lose the war (of principles). If Akin does not drop out, the GOP-e will lose the battle (who cares!) but conservatives will at least hold on to their principles! That is far better than losing the war of principles but caving to GOP-e, aka abortionist central.

Self respecting pro-lifers do not makes exceptions for murders of babies. Murder of defenseless children is wrong and I will put my money where my mouth is.

I can so totally appreciate your situation.... But since there has been all this itching and whining about that mean ole GOP not playing nice and being all mean, the least his supporters can do now is fund his campaign. They have insisted he stay in the race.... wonder is there some kind of 'government grants' they might apply to receive for political campaigns/s
