No. This is bigger then Todd and his big dumb mouth/ego. The left and goofballs on the right need to know what happens when you screw this up. No mercy. Period. It will keep the repubs in line and get in obama’s head. The dims have already over played their hand by making their convention all about abortion in response to Akin. It’s all about jobs to the few swing voters left. Romney/Ryan are playing this just right....but Akin need to be made an example of. Not a dime ..no support.

>> Only because the GOPe went along with it. Hannity and Colter did way more damage than Akin did.

Exactly. A complete failure of damage control.

It’s #ing amazing how much support Romney gets despite his voting record on abortion, yet this guy gets persecuted for a valueless adjective and a dubious theory. Nothing but petulance and hypocrisy at extreme levels.

They know Akin wont win. That was the whole plan. They also secretly support Obama.

Their goal is to teach the GOPe a lesson by making it possible that Obama make infanticide the law of the land. It's their Abortion verion of fast and furious.

They need graphic photos to show how bad abortion is.

Normal conservatives just want to take control of Congress to stop the killing already happening and restrain the RINO in the WH.

The Akinites have their own mission and it's a creepy one.

Indeed, a good article. I wish more here would actually not just read it, but cogitate on it a bit before they wet their beds. MO may be lost, but it is because of the media concentration on and twisting of the statement, not because of the statement itself.

I have heard that it is easier for women to become pregnant when they actually get some pleasure out of the experience, so it would stand to reason that having bad timing and being forced would tend to make the body less receptive.

I believe people like yourself guarantee an Obama victory. If God’s plan is to have America let by such a man to our eventual destruction, you can rest easy. You have done His plan.

“If Akin were to drop out, the GOP will lose that race anyway.”

Absolutely ... NOT!

Are you forgetting that Brunner and Steelmen in polls just a few weeks ago were STOMPING on McCaskill, and Akin was the weakest of the three. The primary only selected the weakest candidate, Akin, because McCaskill ran ads talking about how conservative Akin was - $2m worth.

If Akin withdrew on Tuesday, the MO GOP would have picked a new candidate by now, and that new candidate would be beating McCaskill right now in the polls.

If the mentally-challenged Gop-E and their sheeple will quit trying to stone Akin to death, he will do just fine.

Romney has done just that and the talking head surrogates will likely follow suit.

Akin should be able to soon pivot his campaign against McCaskill.

The founder of this site, Jim Robinson, supports Akin. We should too.

This is what Jim said at http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2922134/posts?page=157#157

“My take is the baby is innocent. Always is. Akin is pro life. If he’s the candidate, I support him.”

Unless he’s into little boys , I doubt Akins had sex in 40 years.

But he didn’t, and it doesn’t look like he’s going to.

I don’t think the hostility and wailing will encourage the voter turnout required for a Senate win in Missouri.

Curious how many Santorum voters have turned on Akin. Has Rick released a statement?

Hannity and Colter did way more damage than Akin did.

You think independents and swing voters (who unfortunately cast the decisive votes in most elections) care about Hannity and Coulter?

This guy damaged himself. No one made him do it. And instead of manning up and admitting it, he climbs on his high horse and insists he's standing on principle.

Ironically, he's pulling the same trick that people accuse "RINOs" and "GOP-e" of; he's gambling that he can count on Conservative votes and contributions, even though he's outrageously bumbled the job he was given. Instead of advancing to home to collect his senate prize, he's crashed in the polls and has become a national laughingstock and a drag on other candidates throughout the country.

Many people are mad because he's tainting candidates in other races by association, and he doesn't care.

At this point I don’t care his voting record, because I can see this stubborn is destroying our future. A decent man will leave at this stage. I hope he can see light, but this rigid man ego is paramount.

Sometimes, one should sacrifice for others. What now we have to see his past voting record, when we are worried about our future.

“Only because the GOPe went along with it. Hannity and Colter did way more damage than Akin did.”

So your position is that, but for Sean Hannity and Ann Coulter, Akin’s idiotic statements would not have been disseminated and would not have hurt his candidacy or that of other Republicans? Yeah, everyone’s at fault but the guy who said that women don’t get pregnant when they are “legitimately” raped. (And before you say anything, I know what he meant, and it was still stupid.)

I am 100% pro-life, and do not believe in exceptions for rape or incest. However, Todd Akin isn’t the only Missouri Republican who would vote 100% pro-life in the Senate—he just happens to be pretty much the only one who would lose to Claire McCaskill and thus have MO contribute a 100% pro-abortion Democrat to the U.S. Senate. There are plenty of ways in which Todd Akin can contribute positively to society and to the conservative and pro-life movements, but losing an eminently winnable U.S. Senate race against a pro-abortion Democrat is not one of them.

Todd Akin should drop out and allow the MO GOP designate someone to replace him on the ballot. Heck, I’m sure that Akin can work out a deal so that the GOP has already selected the replacement (in private) before he announces he’s stepping down so as to ensure that the replacement is someone acceptable to Akin. Doing so would be a terrific first step towards making up for the damage he has done to the pro-life movement.
