No criminal prosecution of GIs who burned Qurans
Stars and Stripes ^ | August 27, 2012 | Chris Carroll

Six soldiers will be hit with administrative punishments for their participation in high-profile incidents early this year. Well marked Qurs were burned after jail guards discovered insurgents were writing messages to each other in the pages of Islam’s "holiest" book.

President Barack Obama (groveling for all Americans), apologized for the burning of Qurs.

The soldiers who incinerated Qurans at a detention center at Bagram Air Field in February won’t be criminally prosecuted, military officials announced Monday.

well guess what. in America radical liberals can burn the American Flag and that is not a crime. They can riot against the brave soldiers that keep them free, and they can piss on the Bible.

I am just as free as any other American. If I want to use the “koran” for toilet paper (i prefer scott tissues, they are cheaper) i have the right.

if i want to buy their stupid little hateful pederast book about the pedophile mohamaded and do not like it, then i can throw it in the campfire, and should not expect to be beheaded for doing that.

these are the most hateful, vile, women hating people in the world.

until the free nations get together and eliminate islam, we are doomed to be in constant terror.

this is Issac vs ishmael. truth vs a fairy tale told by a pedophile.

islam does not belong in the United States, along with communism, fascism, socialism, because the rats cannot honestly declare allegiance to the Constitution. btw, the obamanation is a fascist.

rush is right about some things. we have a society that are just skulls full of mush.

Blessings, bobo

These guys get an Article 15 at best for doing exactly what the manual says in how they are to destroy the books because they were desecrated by the prisoners, in accordance to the way they were taught? I hope that President Romney overturns that decision and immediately terminates the commissions of any officer involved in it.

Being more retrospect, there was a logical reason for fragging during VietNam.

They may not be charging them with criminal acts, but they’re still kicking them out of the service.
I hope this does not go well for the PC jerks at the top of the blame chain.
These boys are having their futures destroyed to allow some Democommies to feel good about themselves.
If our soldiers can’t be allowed to openly degrade the enemy then we should not be in a war and our troops should not be over there.

Quote from a different article about disposal of ragweed

The Quran is considered to be the speech of God to humankind — word for word — explains Imam Johari Abdul-Malik.

"The traditional way of disposing of used or damaged copies of the text of the Quran is by burning it," he says.

Their future destroyed? I am not convinced I would desire any future in today’s queer Military. One accomplishment of this Administration is it certainly has fundamentally changed our Military —by the elevation of homosexual behavior beyond protected class status—to the surrender to the Islamic Terrorism I would think these troops would best serve this nation and the Oath they took if recruited by the unorganized Militia-or the Tea Party Patriots. If the Us Military doesn’t want them America needs them.

From the article: "Six soldiers will be hit with administrative punishments ..."

Hmmm... My recollection was that there were three types of punishment possible in the military; court-martial, non-judicial punishment, and administrative punishment.

The details in the article seem to indicate "non-judicial punishment" which I thought was through Article 15.

When I was in the Army, administrative punishment (don't ask how I know this) was limited to something like two weeks of extra duty or two weeks confinement to the post. One might wonder if the use of the term "administrative punishment" was intentional or not.

Article 15s must be accepted by the soldier and are offered as an alternative to court-martial. Failing to agree to the Article 15 would typically be equivalent to demanding a court-martial. Non-judicial punishment is limited to loss of a single stripe or loss of some pay (perhaps a month).

"Administrative punishment" is so slight that a commanding officer may impose it without agreement from the soldier to accept such punishment and without any threat to proceed to court-martial. It's basically the lowest effort to maintain discipline in a military unit.
