A well-placed Republican source tells Townhall that Oscar-winning director and actor Clint Eastwood will travel to Tampa, Florida to attend Mitt Romney's nominating convention this week. As the news media scrambles to identify the so-called "mystery speaker" scheduled to address GOP delegates on Thursday evening, some have speculated that the iconic Hollywood figure could fit the bill. Our source -- who spoke on the condition of anonymity -- could not confirm if Eastwood is, in fact, the intriguing "to-be-announced" speaker, but stated unequivocally that the Dirty Harry star will arrive in Florida late on Wednesday or early on Thursday, and will return to southern California on Friday. Eastwood endorsed Romney earlier this month and backed Sen. John McCain's presidential bid in 2008. He also attracted political buzz when he cut a controversial Super Bowl ad for Chrysler earlier this year, which some viewed as a tacit message in favor of President Obama. If he is the RNC mystery man, Eastwood would address Republican delegates just prior to Sen. Marco Rubio's introduction of Romney in primetime on Thursday night.
Will Clint Eastwood make Mitt Romney's day? Stay tuned...
I love Clint, but I have no desire to hear politics from Hollywood celebrities, regardless of their political orientation.
Jon Voight spoke or will speak at the RNC convention as will Janine Turner.
I definitely make an exception for her.
Excellent - good news!
Hope he’s strapping a rifle, or does a few one-arm push-ups. Ya’ know what I’m talkin’ ‘bout.
Gee I thought That actor, Ronald Reagan did a pretty good job of "talking politics."
I actually consider Clint a little more than an actor since he was also the mayor of Carmel, CA during his career. Its good to see some Republican stars coming out. All we hear about are the nasty ones on the left.
I’d love to hear Clint say to Obama - “do you feel lucky this year - punk!”
Clint’s “mystery appearance” would by FAR be miniscule compared to a GINORMOUS Sarah appearance.
“as will Janine Turner.”
Her speech last night was excellent. Smart lady, and passionate about America.
She’s much better looking as a brunette, IMHO.
I’d love to see Clint Eastwood up there on the screen. He and Romney are both the quiet, silent types about their personal lives. Yet both get the job done. Good man to have on our side.
Sarah's speech is not going to matter to Independents. And those are the votes that we are after.
Maybe he is going to tell us that it is “Halftime in America”, again.
I like Clint Eastwood.
He was a mayor, and has some political experience.
If not mistaken, he at one point supported Obama or Clinton.
With a big name like his, and a conversion from the dark side to the light, that kind of thing, good or bad, has influence and will help.
As mayor of Carmel, CA, I can imagine the high-maintenance whiners he had to deal with on a daily basis. He has paid his dues to speak.
He and Romney are both the quiet, silent types about their personal lives. Yet both get the job done.

Yeah Clint’s a great guy ,, pressures his girlfriend , Sondra Locke , into having two abortions when he is filthy rich and children would have been no burden at all ...
Will he be carrying his Model 29 Smith in a shoulder holster?
Shucks I watched as much as I could last night and missed her. Since I go to work at midnight I have to get some sleep.
Yes MUCH better as a brunette!
Maybe he’s bringing a Kenyan birth certificate for Barack Obama with him.
and easy to look at ;-)
"Go ahead. Make my Election."
Sorry, T-party not welcome at this convention. Maybe next time around?
