Obama campaign says it will fill football stadium for convention’s finale

Team Obama promises it will fill every one of the seats in Charlotte’s mammoth football stadium Thursday night when President Obama closes the Democratic National Convention with a speech accepting his party’s nomination.

For weeks, Democrats have been concerned about filling Bank of America Stadium, home to the NFL’s Carolina Panthers. They feared a devastating image of an enthusiasm gap if Obama spoke to empty upper decks at the venue.

But the Obama campaign says it’s got it covered, and that all 73,778 of the stadium’s seats will be spoken for. The campaign also insists this success will showcase a ground operation that will help Obama win North Carolina for a second cycle in a row this November. “We’re confident we’ll be full,” Jen Psaki, the traveling Obama press secretary, told The Hill late last week. “We have a great ground operation in North Carolina and we’ve registered more voters than any other state.

“Our goal is to leave North Carolina better than we came in,” Psaki added.

I live in Georgia. It’s a great State. Beaches, mountains, big cities (well city), swamps, quaint small towns, ancient Indian mounds, great colleges, hospitals, and an exceptional record on racial matters. For example, I think we were one of few States that did not have riots when Dr. King died. And, Atlanta was his home base.
Not to say we don’t have our problems. Some places you just do not go.
My real point is that I am always amazed when I see projected Electoral College maps that put Georgia in a toss-up or contested State for the election. I see it fairly often. It’s not depicted as purple, but is a lighter shade than Alabama, for instance.
However...
There is no way, absolutely no way, that Georgia will go for zer0.
I doubt that North Carolina will make the same mistake this go round. But Georgia did not go for zer0 last time, and it won’t do it this time.
Just wanted to stand up for my beloved sovereign State (represented by the fourth star on the US Flag), which like all other States ceded limited powers to the gluttonous federal government.
Let’s take back our States!

Lots of Holder’s people and Biden’s people will show up for freebies if they’ll send a bus for them.

so... they could move it to Victoria Road Stadium in the UK, then they'd only need 6,078 euro socialists to FILL it up.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! This *ssclown is trying to scalp his tix on Craigslist. He is giving them away free but wants to be compensated for 2 days of missing work.

Democratic National Convention 2012 tickets (Charlotte, Nc)
Date: 2012-09-01, 5:28PM EDT

I have tickets to the DNC 2012 on September 6th, the night President Obama will be accepting the nomination for Democratic Presidential Candidate, but I can’t go because of work. The tickets are free, but I would like to be reimbursed for the two days of missed work and the 7 1/2 hours that I stood in line for them. If seeing the President isn’t enough, there is a list of other performers that will also be present that night. I also contacted the local Campaign office to make sure that if I gave the tickets to someone else that they could still be used and was told YES.

(”This roster of performances only adds to the excitement building in Charlotte for the historic week ahead of us,” said 2012 Democratic National Convention Chair Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. “The tens of thousands who will attend Convention events in person, and all those tuning in across the country, should be ready for quite a show.”

The schedule of performances at the 2012 Democratic National Convention:

Thursday, September 6 (Bank of America Stadium)
Foo Fighters
Mary J. Blige
Earth, Wind and Fire
James Taylor
Delta Rae
Inspire the Fire
Marc Anthony (national anthem))

Location: Charlotte, Nc

I saw the same 50,000 total figure. The seating for the Forum is listed as 13000 to 19000 depending on configuration. Thinking about tradition pre-Obama, wasn’t it customary for a Presidential candidate to make his acceptance speech at the same place where the convention is held?

The location that was good enough for the delegates wasn’t grand enough for “the one”, I guess.

Obama used to sneeze and get crowds of 75,000+ in a flash.

Now they have to pull teeth to get people to come and place a “weather” contingency plan.

How the mighty have fallen.

Yep - they’ll fill it and it will take weeks for the cleanup crews to sanitize it.
