Post-RNC Survey USA Florida Shows Movement Towards Romney Among Persuadables (22% switch to Romney)

Two-thirds of those who watched Thursday night's speeches at the Republican National Convention already had decided who they would vote for before anyone opened their mouth, but among the small but important group of persuadable speech watchers, there is 2:1 movement towards Romney, according to a SurveyUSA poll of the state of Florida conducted for WFLA-TV in Tampa.

1,211 adults were interviewed statewide 08/31/12, after Romney, Florida's Marco Rubio and Clint Eastwood spoke to the convention 08/30/12. Of the adults, 1,100 were registered to vote in Florida. Of the registered voters, 754 heard the convention speeches. Of the convention speech watchers:

* 66% did not change their mind. * 16% switched from "undecided" to Romney. * 6% switched from Obama to Romney. * Adding those 2 together, that's 22% who switched TO Romney. * 10% switched from "undecided" to Obama. * 2% switched from Romney to Obama. * Adding those 2 together, that's 12% who switched TO Obama. * Comparing the 2 aggregate numbers: 22% switched TO Romney, 12% switched TO Obama.

Caution: As expected, those who watched the speeches at the Republican National Convention were disproportionately Republican. This poll does not attempt to measure how all likely voters in the state of Florida would vote if filling out a ballot today. It attempts to measure early movement among speech-watchers only.

Reaction to individual speeches broke along party lines:

* 79% of Republicans, compared to 35% of Democrats, said Romney's speech helped his chances to be elected. * 12% of Republicans, compared to 45% of Democrats, said Eastwood's speech hurt Romney's changes to be elected.

And next week after the DNC convention they’ll switch back. It’s called, “The Moron Vote”.

My sister describes her political “ideals” as “They all sound good. I normally vote for whoever talks to me last.”

I wonder how many of these “persuadables” will switch back to Obama after the Dem convention - and back and forth again through the next couple of months.

For the record, I always take my sister to the polling place - and I always talk to her last ;)

After watching the Hannity special on the Hope and the Change where they interviewed 40 people that voted for Obama in 2008, I think it’s very apparent Obama is going to get whipped in November.

We’ll have a better idea of where this is going in 2 or 3 weeks. And even so it all boils down to less than 10 states that are on the fence.

They’ll fall back into Obama’s column. Romney got the proverbial ‘dead cat bounce’ and from here on out it’ll be all Obama all the time.

Here's my take, regardless of shifting "polls" that are designed to manipulate behavior... Show me ONE 2008 McCain voter who now supports Obama in 2012 - just one. And then start counting the large numbers of 2008 Obama voters who now confess their regret and/or disillusionment, and who say they'll either vote GOP or perhaps not vote at all.

Vote as if your freedom depends upon it. It does.

Thanks Marine - we need to hear more of the simplified truth as Nov approaches.

12% of Republicans, compared to 45% of Democrats, said Eastwood's speech hurt Romney's changes to be elected.

And all 12% of those republicans live in Washington DC.

” 10% switched from “undecided” to Obama. * 2% switched from Romney to Obama. ‘

Call me a cynic, but I don’t believe the event switched anyone into the Obama voter category. These people were most likely in Obama’s camp and merely lied to the poll taker. Makes me think of the rants on blogs that go something like, “I have been a Republican all my life but, after seeing how shamefully they have treated Obama, I will never vote Republican again.”

Remember, Dems lie!

The Republican convention’s main theme was the economy and getting people jobs. Can anyone explain to me why illegal immigration was not addressed? Afterall America now houses aprroximately 20-40 million illegal aliens of whom at least half have taken American jobs.
