Dems bring in crowds by the busload to fill stadium for Obama speech.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – College students from across North Carolina will arrive in Charlotte by the busload. Same with members of predominantly black churches in neighboring South Carolina.

Their goal: help fill a 74,000-seat outdoor stadium to capacity when President Obama accepts the Democratic nomination Thursday night.

Anything short of a full house on the final night of the Democratic Party's national convention will be instant fodder for Republicans eager to use empty seats as symbols of waning voter enthusiasm for Obama.

I was wondering why they chose a stadium. Maybe they think he really is that popular or maybe they hope that the visual will help their cause. Either way it’s over the top and will put people off now.

How about homeless shelters? Give each one $5 or a bottle of Thunderbird to watch the great O.

Obama got SS protection from very early in his candidacy. This is as BS an excuse as they could conjure.

So these students’ parents are paying their hard earned money in tuition so the kid can take a bus to Charlotte, return to campus very late at night and (likely) miss class the next morning? Not that anyone takes class on Friday anymore. Gotta prepare for the weekend!

Is it really a convention event if it is open to the general public? I thought you needed credentials of some kind - delegate, press, party member - to attend any convention event. If that is true then it means they are closing the convention early and holding a campaign event immediately at a nearby venue.

HOW LOW WILL YOU SET THE BAR, DNC?

"YES WE CAN" has become about filling a small stadium that wouldn't house the average crowd of a College football game, instead of getting the economy going and people back to work!

Hope R2 points this out.

Ironic they’re busing them in for the convention, since the Dems were so anti-busing in the old days of the South.....as Gov Wallace used to say, “Bussin’”.

“Obama aides say several thousand tickets also have been given to new campaign volunteers in North Carolina. People who complete three volunteer shifts totaling nine hours got one ticket to the final speech.”

Knowing Obama sometimes charges 30K per seat to hear him speak. Shouldnt those people be taxes at $30,000 value since they are exchanging a good or service (their time) to go to the speech?

Obama supporters do not need any instigation to riot.

Bad news for Obama when he has to pay people to fill seats to create an "appearance".

This thing may not be as close many believe.

What are they bribing these people with?

Look at the trash piles left behind. That will give you a clue.

If there are Freepers in the Charlotte area, I hope they just walk around and take photos of interesting things they see. Covertly, though. No need to rile these people. They can get violent.

Some newspapers headlines about the RNC said “Sea of Whiteness” criticizing the ‘lack of diversity’, so if the DNC events start looking monochrome, they should be called on it too

who cares?

If they’ve got it full, then they’ve got it full.

Republicans should gather an equal number of unemployed and underemployed just outside the stadium.
